To be perfectly honest, the hdr pics look much better BUT there is loss of fine details... You probably can't see it on these uploads through community app, but on the originals you easily can see it on a 21" screen....

It might be a better option to take the original without hdr and post process it with a HDR software....

    Shot on oneplus 6T
    Pro mode
    ISO : 1250
    Shutter speed 1/6400
    Whitebalance : Auto
Subject : A mosquito was resting on the back of my oneplus 3. I kept a torch as a light source and took a photo to get its shadow kinda image but end result was impressive.
I wish I could sell this picture to mosquitoes in return for no biting me for year :p:p:D

You are right. The photos are degraded too much when you upload them with the community app.
Would you mind to compress them and post via browser? Otherwise the comparison may lead to worse interpretation.
Of course best HDR results require stabil hands or tripod. Maybe stacking could also help.

You are aware that oneplus hdr is simply software based? So with tripod it doesn't make any difference. On Gcmod when using HDR+ENHANCED or Nightsight it makes a difference indeed.

Does it mean that oneplus stock camera is creating HDR from less the 3 shots?
    If the answer is:
    • Yes >>> not good implementation.
    • No >>> requires stability.

thanks. Good observation. The original picture doesn't have the banding. Its original file size is 12.2MB which is automatically compressed to 8.2 by the stock app. It's worth noting the reasons for the banding. Thanks @hennes for the explanation. I thought of sharing the background info. The picture was compressed twice Due to a bug making the band's more pronounced.. It's straight blue and with the other colour can create these bands. Note that the the pictures from the two cameras also have to be sythesized together by software. And hence creating the band's. Below is the original picture that was compressed once and from 8 to 1.74 MB. Notice that there is less banding.
