Software Support for OP3/3T: Questions & Answers.

    Something I didn't found a answer yet:

Intressting will also be who's advantage the software unification will be, for oneplus or the users, I mean will they stretch out the support window for the "non-t-models" because the "t-models" joined a few months later or will they count for their own advantage and let the "t-models" die with the normal "non-t-model" support cycle?
No one really knows cause this just didn't happen yet, we'll see soon I guess... Unfortunately there's no official statement about the support cycle to find, Google i.e. does give exact time frames for support, which is great for users to make a decision - no ugly surprises...

They will die along with the non-t models, they are just refreshes of those models and not a new phone (or else they would have kept the software development seperate for them)

This is the question, it would be a huge disappointment when the t-models will have their support cycle shrinked because of the non-t ones...

They said that they will keep providing support until it is possible (depends upon drivers SD820/1 etc.), so if the 3 stops, so will the 3T. I hope that makes it clear.

So the support cycle is rather determined by the chip makers (i.e. Qualcomm), is what you mean? This would be awesome but hard to believe...

    Any sources for this?

Cause the oneplus2's SD 810 supported nougat but that fact didn't bother them back in the days when they sent it EOL..

OP2 and OPX were the failures of OnePlus (different reasons), OP2 didn't get it as at that point of time as the dev team was not upto the mark (it has gotten better, but again it is still not good enough - OP3/3T 5.0 stable blunder + lack of Treble even though pixel has it and some huawei phones are also getting it, which were launched with nougat).
OPX on the other hand was a blunder from the start (decision making) as it used the SD801, the 800/1 series never got past the 6.0.1 mark for any OEM.
I am pretty sure you will find it on the net, it has been released by many OEMs - HTC , motorola etc.
http://www.htc.com/us/go/htc-software-updates-process/ (This is pretty much the Android OS dev cycle pre-treble and pre-security updates)
I was also clear in stating that there were more factors involved too, when I used the word 'etc.' in my previous post.

Feel free to look up in the net for more examples.

It has been retracted for the time being, it is better that you wait for the OTA rollout to begin again.

Is OnePlus team aware of the battery issues especially the Cellular Standby drain? Any fix coming soon?

Cell standby drain issue is fixed in current beta version, so expect that to be brought in stable version. However there is no ETA on when the update would roll-out. Fill up feedback form and let bug hunters know the issues you are facing.
