Sound Sound/Notification Distortion

Upgraded from a 2 to a 5T (Oxygen OS v4.7.4) about a month ago and love the phone but I'm getting severe distortion and stuttering with alarms and notifications. Even noticing it with some sounds in games. No issues with audiobooks or videos played (without headphones). A reboot fixes it for a small time but it always re-emerges within a day.

Anyone else experiencing this? It's a very disappointing bug on an otherwise awesome phone.

I have the same issue on the 5T (128G) and 5T (64G - wife's phone). I'm very disappointed. I plan to contact support regarding this issue.

Try to clean the cache from recovery mode, it might help.

By the way we are now at Oxygen OS 4.7.6

Hi, I got OP 5T in December and I'm having the same issue since 2 weeks. It sounds so annoying, similar to sound that we can hear when video lags.
Please try to resolve this issue and BTW I didn't receive any update "Oxygen OS 4.7.6". Mine is Oxygen OS v4.7.4.

Cleaning the cache provides only a temporary fix, similar to rebooting, and no update has been pushed to my phone. Very annoying issue that once again made itself known when I received a call today and the ring tone sounded like it was in its death throes.

Hi,. Exactly the same problem for me. A terrible crackling sound from the speaker when for examples receiving messages in Whatsapp, playing my own .mp3 ringtone etc etc. I hope this can be fixed in somekind of update, or else I want the phone replaced soon.
When restarting, yes the crackling sound disappares, but back in same condition after a while.

Hi all, cache removal, hard reboot/reset methods are just giving temporary answers to the issue (in my case). After 2days the noise is back again. To be frank I started to dislike OP strategy. This is my first OP phone, but what bothers me is that, they launched new sandstone version(2months later) / lava red version/ star wars version of 5T's after their initial launch of 5T. Why can't they launch these colors/versions during initial release? and make their new customers and fan base happy. BTW there new OP 6 is gonna launch in March/April 2018. I don't know what they are trying to do. In several countries OP5t = Samsung s8 price in November 2017.
Hoping for quick and reliable updates.

I restarted my phone a couple of days ago, problem solved I thought. Now it´s back again, terrible sound from the speaker when receiving calls, notifications, email etc etc. This must be a software glitch.
OnePlus.... What to do? Update coming soon fixing the issue?

I've been having this same issue. Mainly with notification sounds. Rarely with incoming call ringtones. But music and videos played over the speaker sound perfectly fine. Would like to see this resolved soon. Had this issue since day 1. OxygenOS 4.7.6 here.

Have been in contact with support regarding this problem. Many people having the same issue, but they want me to clean the phone to default and start again. That´s a big deal for me, takes always some time to make it "mine" again after default. This should be fixed with a software update.
Problem is solved temporarily when restarting phone and also when deleting cache memory when restarting with "power button + volume down".

Yeah, that should not be the "solution." Resetting the phone has never fixed anything for me. It's just an annoyance. Hopefully they recognize this as a bigger issue and release an update to fix it.

I hope they know about it, people are reporting issues so I guess someone will eventually take a look at it.

I join the crackling choir with my 5t running O 4.7.6. I've made the observation that apps like spotify, Google music player and YouTube never cause audio to crackle, but pretty much all other apps which produce audio programmatically seem to suffer from this.

I'm learning to play an instrument and I use number of apps to help me practice. Apps like Tabs pro and Amazing slow downer are not usable on this phone due to this issue. Same thing with Duolingo. My old oneplus 2 worked just fine. It sounds as if processor is overloaded.
