Currently done with 2 episodes. A fair paced build up, more than a tinch of religion and ominous dark encounters at times. But yea story is there being unraveled in an interesting way. can be a lil bit of slow burn for some people.
Give it a try when you get time.

Hah, I can tell you this: my favorite episode is the sixth one. ;)

Many thanks, I'll check if it's available in a streaming platform here.

Thank you for the summary. I do like shows that are slow burners if the viewer is rewarded in the end.

But how is it in terms of terror? A lot of jump scares? ;)

Until recently (maybe around a year or so), I rarely had the patience to watch many of these kinds of shows. Mostly because I've always found dubbing off putting, and find I miss to much when I use subtitles.

I've somehow managed to get over my hesitance at watching these kinds of shows, and have lately found myself watching more and more shows out of korea, Japan and surrounding counties

This one seems to have appeared from nowhere, but am now gripped to it. Only 3 episodes in but I'm loving it so far, although my wife is far from impressed 😅.

There seems to be some great shows and films coming out of South East Asia recently, and my Netflix watchlist is very much reflecting that fact.

Looking at your avatars age I think horror might not be a fitting genre 😛🙃
Sorry jokes aside , up until epi 2 I find jumpscares or terror there but distributed over the episode where needed. Quite early to say a lot about it.
Consider haunting of hill House, hereditary, aftercare, autopsy of jane doe like content for jump scares and that thrill.

The roller coaster is just beginning. ;)

Completely agree with you. There's this show, Giri/Haji, that's on my list for months. Read good things about it.

If you have any recommendations, I am all ears.

Horror is actually one of my favorite genres and you mentioned a movie that I love: Hereditary. I really like Ari Aster. ;)

Understandable. But please do watch it, genuinely interested to know if you are going to be disappointed after all the hype.

Wow, that's nice.. I have been planning to try that sometime!

Definitely one of the really good ones in the horror genre.
Malignant, was a fine recent one too. I like that the horror genre is growing with series format now.

Hereditary isn't horror. It's an allegory of mental illness. An excellent one, though.

Indeed it is. I've watched it a couple of times now and that ending still challenges me. Midsommar is another recommended watch, but I think it's even more challenging.

Squid Game is the opposite. It make its point directly and bluntly, but gets better and better when you start to realize everything that's involved - in what conditions were those people selected to be participants.

And of course, it's a study in free will.

Just completed Squid Games. That was a great story. If I remember, there was a similar movie named luck which I watched in childhood.

Heheh, oh man, I loved reading this message. Full of awesome references. Nicely done. :D

I guess I'll need to be careful when I am in a metro station. Especially if someone wants to start playing a game.

I don't think I ever saw that movie, but I am glad you liked the series.

So, how do you reckon: should Netflix do a second season or it's better if this behemoth is left as is? ;)

I feel it could have concluded with S1 but the ending cliffhanger irks me a lot. I can't wait for S2.
