Got it fixed.........need TWRP version 3.2.1-0 and Open Mini Gapps ver 8.1., won't flash on TWRP ver 3.0.2-0 and Gapps version 8.0.xx not compatible.
Looks and feels better, a bit heavy on memory, rest all run smooth and flawless.

I'm having an issue while charging. The phone now boots automatically when charging. If I shut down it just starts up again.

OK, I finally managed to find, the reason.......BOTH 15.1 and Open Gapps Mini 8.1 need to be flashed together, before booting in the system.

Boot up is faster, ram utilization better, Battery time and SOT better vs 14.1 etc.......

I installed Nova Prime, working fine, but keep getting a message displayed,"Privacy Guard active" Nova launcher will not be able to access personal data"......how do I get rid of it, is annoying.

    Thanks.

Memory usage doesn't exceed 1.1 gigs, and am getting 5 hrs average SOT, most 3rd party apps running flawlessly....charge speed has increased too vs 14.1

It's easy if you already followed the instructions for installing 14.1.

    Steps:
    1. Backup your SMS messages if you want to keep them.
    2. From your phone download the following:
      1. TWRP 3.2.1-0 at https://twrp.me/ (Skip if you are on this version or higher)
      2. LineageOS 15.1 at https://download.lineageos.org/bacon
      3. GApps at http://opengapps.org/. Select ARM/8.1/Nano
    3. Verify the above files are in the download folder.
    4. Boot into TWRP recovery.
    5. Upgrade TWRP (Skip if you are on this version or higher)
      1. Select Install from the main menu.
      2. Navigate to the download folder and select the TWRP file.
      3. Swipe to confirm flash.
      4. Reboot into TWRP recovery.
    6. Do a backup (Optional but recommended)
    7. Select Wipe and then Advanced Wipe.
    8. Select Cache, System and Data partitions to be wiped and then Swipe to Wipe.
    9. Install LineageOS 15.1
      1. Go back to return to main menu, then select Install.
      2. Navigate to the download folder and select the LineageOS file.
      3. Swipe to confirm flash.
    10. Do not reboot yet!
    11. Install GApps
      1. Go back to return to main menu, then select Install.
      2. Navigate to the download folder and select the GApps file
    12. Reboot to System.

Hi. I'm gonna give it a go. A couple of questions. Am I right in thinking I don't need anything on my PC to upgrade using this method? I can remember having to install something on the PC when I went to 14.1. Also, some say nano, some say mini - what's the difference? Also, I'm happy to have to re-install my apps to give them a fresh start, so I presume wiping the cache, system and data will clear everything out? Cheers.

No, you won't need you computer.
Just download the LOS zip and the nano GApps package.
    • Backup everything you need
    • Boot into TWRP
    • Wipe system, cache, dalvik and data (not internal storage!)
    • Install the LOS zip and GApps package
    • Wipe cache and reboot into system
There are different sizes of the GApps packages which include a different amount of Google Apps and functions.
You won't need more than the nano size out of the box.
Download your preferred Google Apps afterwards.
Custom ROMs also struggle most of the time when you try to install a bigger GApps package.

    Hope this helps you :)
