So I'm starting uni in about 2 weeks, and I'm already in what I like to call 'Student money saving mode', its nothing new, I know, but I'm wondering if any of you guys have any tips/advice for life as a student?
Advice on saving money/making money (apart from the ingenious idea of "getting a job") would be ideal, haha

Oh... I did promise Blue Tits...

Shop smart for textbooks... make sure you really need the book before you buy it. When/if you do buy a textbook look around before buying one to get the best price. A lot of people also get free PDFs of books online... should help a lot with the cost of uni life, books can be expensive :p

Never Buy your books from the school book store. You can always get them cheaper online. You can sometimes get older editions for even cheaper. Most books they just change the question numbers at the end of the chapter in the new edition, there is usually very little actual change between editions. Of course it depends on the subject too. The best thing is to ask the professor, if it's okay to use the old edition.
And like others have said, you can find PDF's of most books online if you search hard enough.

Try buying books used, I believe there is a website where you can rent books for classes. Something you may want to look into.

Beats paying $200 for a book that you will be stuck with!

Also if you don't think you are going to reuse the textbooks you purchased you can always resell then if they are in good condition... sometimes for just 20$ less than you purchased them for...

Can't always find my books on Pirate Bay... I'm in Biomedical Mechanical Engineering :p My field is still relatively new and texts are too new to find as PDFs :(

Also never sell your book back to the bookstore. You pay $200 and get $30 back, resell around campus.

I actually went into my old Psychology class first day and sold the book to someone!
