People should leave it to the moderators to filter out stuff or politely recommend people direct their attention to another section. The people complaining about other people's coments aren't exactly reading over the guidelines about being respectful in the comments section either. The feedback tool is a better option for actually providing feedback anyways since it cuts through the noise. The forums are more meant for discussion between users and mods to get quick suggestions and encourage discussion, but if someone is really facing a bug or something it's best to just use the feedback tool. A good example of how two different users could have a productive discussion on an 8 series thread could be like, one person says, "I can't wait for it to come to the *blank*" the 8 series owner says "It's so awesome, I really think you're going to like this feature" and so on. Any sort of hostility is unnecessary. And I'm that scenario the person may have been talking about another series but in the end they're still talking about OnePlus and about the 8 series too.

Because it is named wrong when downloaded via chrome, the solution is already mentioned in this thread, have a look and you will find the answer.

I agree with your comments about the feedback tool, and my initial comment was that this is not a general thread as you stated but rather a thread for 8 series owners to discuss the update, I pointed you in the direction of the general thread. I did not state that YOU asked for an ETA but pointed out that numerous people had done so in this thread. Again I suggest you read what is written rather than take your interpretation of what you think I said.

Moderators have a busy enough job and by politely pointing you in the direction of the general thread I was being a helpful community member, I was not rude with my reply and there certainly wasn't any hostility, you would have had no doubt in your mind if I was being hostile with my answers.

The majority of people aren't saying they can't wait, a few are but others are asking for ETAs which OP have already stated that they will not give ETAs in a previous post.

I installed the oxygen OS 11 beta 1 on my one plus 8 today and the only wierd issue that I noticed is that as soon as I open whatsapp, open a chat and then start typing, there a screen brightness drop. It's more like a flicker. Comes and goes. As of now I've noticed this only on whatsapp. Put a bright chat wallpaper. It will helpful in noticing the flicker. A friend of mine noticed the same thing on his one plus 8 pro as well.

It's the switch between the app auto Hz setting and the auto switch to 60 when using keyboard. In an app that always used 60 you don't see it because keyboard and app runs at the same Hz.

I understand, thanks :) But up until I installed the OOS 11 beta 1, I never noticed this brightness drop on Android 10. The phone is running on 90hz and has been running on 90hz ever since I bought it. I've honestly never seen this issue. I don't know whether the issue is on Google keyboard or whatsapp or the OOS 11. And besides even if it's an issue on any end, it needs to be fixed. It's not a good experience.

I tried replicating the issue by opening the google keyboard on the native messages app of one plus and also while I'm typing this comment. There is a brightness drop as soon as open Google keyboard so it seems it's an issue with on that end itself. Thanks though :)

New behavior in Android 11 it seems. Not sure if intended. But if it is done properly it's more battery friendly.

You always had the automatic switch, but done differently before.

There is a new setting that will let you show the framerate.
There you see the Hz switch and also some of the apps that automatically uses 60 Hz.

I see, thanks :) Yes, it would definitely be battery friendly if they could improve on it. But irrespective of new behaviour or not, this kind of experience doesn't feel nice. It's actually bad if you come to think of it. One plus is known for its smoothness and this clearly is not the case here :)

I tried it and yes, it does drop to 60 hz. But it's not like Google keyboard is new or it wasn't 60hz before. It has been for a while now and this kind of issue was not on OOS 10. 90hz and Android 10. I'm pretty sure nobody faced such an issue. :)
