    Thanks anyways for confirming. Should I root now or after the update or it doesn't matter. Don't have many apps just Sygic, Skype, FB, Twitter, Whatsapp. So no need for back ups, though my OPOs are synced with my pcs. Btw dont know how to create or restore back ups. :(

    You recommend doing it myself or hiring a tech to do it for them?

    For all users who are having difficulty connecting their phone to Windows 7 for file transfer, I found these steps useful:
    1.Whenever you connect your OPO for the first time, it automatically installs the ADB drivers. Your device comes listed as a portable media device in My Computer.
    2. If it doesn't, go to Settings >> Storage >> Options (3 dots on upper right corner). Either the MTP option should be selected by default or the Camera option. What I did is untick everything. The computer installs yet another ADB device listed as ADB original interface. After this completes, disconnect the OPO and reconnect. You should be able to transfer files successfully
