T-Mobile Oneplus 8 Losing Cellular Signal via OnePlus 8 T-Mobile

  1. Jmillsap89 , via OnePlus 8 T-Mobile , Aug 17, 2020 :
Hello everyone, new to the forums. I searched for this problem but couldn't find anything here so I thought I'd reach out to see if anyone else has had this problem. For about a week now after getting the OTA update for the Standalone 5G I have been losing cellular signal typically at my home when I arrive and connect to my home wifi or sometimes overnight while asleep. The only way to correct it I've found is to restart the phone. I've tried airplane mode and turning cellular off and then on but neither work. Has anyone else encountered this problem? I usually find out when my wife yells at me for not responding to her texts and then I see my signal is gone, so I've not only missed text messages but phone calls. Will this be addressed in the next OTA update?

Yep. I talked to a T-Mobile tech support agent and they told me that it is a known issue. They told me the fix was to go to settings>Wi-Fi & Settings>SIM & network settings>preferred network type and change it to 2G/3G/LTE (Automatic) but that didn't work. This has been a terrible experience since that update. I have to constantly reboot my phone so I can send a text or make a call. I have missed calls and texts and everything.

Hello! Yes, since the last OTA update there has been issues losing the cellular network signal, while also connected to WiFi. And too, I am also losing my WiFi calling feature at the same time, making my phone unusable for phone calls and standard messages.

Same here. The update also affects my WiFi Calling literally making the phone useless as a phone. I'm really disappointed. I wish I wouldn't have sold my iPhone 11 already or that's where my SIM would be.

Unless they pushed the latest release with the idea the Android 11 update is around the corner?! But yes, this is a serious issue!

I can't remember if my WiFi calling had began to mess up around the time of the update but I had to turn mine off because I would receive calls and the other person would hear me fine but their voice would never come through. They would call multiple times and would hear me trying to talk to them but I could never hear them. Did you guys have anything like that happen?

Unfortunately I don't think the OnePlus users on T-Mobile will be getting Android 11 any time soon...since we can't get updates straight from OnePlus we have to wait for Oneplus to release it and then T-Mobile has to go through it and put their spin on it 😫😫

Okay, I'm east coast. I just went through with the update and also turned on my WiFi calling to see if that has been corrected as well. I'll let you know what happens on my end as well [e]1f44d[/e]

Yeah I seem to be having the same problem.... No service after I play games. Dunno why but the I just got the update for 10.5 so I let y'all know if it fixed the problem. Another thing, does the T-Mobile 1+8 get the AOD? Cause I can't seem to figure it out.....
