T-Mobile (USA) new update wish list

Don't get me wrong, they've done ok with getting quite a few updates out. But they've seem like they're only bug fixes to make it work with their network, rather than the user experience updates. Maybe they'll catch up in time, but I don't know. With the pace OnePlus pushes updates, it's seems like there would be a better coordination with OnePlus saying, hey.. Can you just test this one, rather than the last 3 so you can have all the latest improvements?

I do wonder though by going to the global version, do I not have support for the domestic roaming partner (Sprint) from the January 9th update?

T-Mobile variant now has RCS messaging which I believe, my global variant does not. it's also universal profile so it can be used with other carriers. Why doesn't the my global have this? Because this and along with wifi calling need to be tested by the carrier.... Android is a open source and different carriers use different variants of all the small things that aren't always seen on the surface of phones.

WiFi calling works on T-Mobile with the global version. And I believe the global version has RCS support on other carriers outside the US. It's meant to be a global standard, just like how SMS was. There is no reason why it wouldn't work, unless T-Mobile is just denying support. Which they may be doing as an incremental rollout to test before rolling it out to anything in their network.

I can't stand tmo. Unfortunately I am on their plan because I have a good deal with them. I thought ahead and bought my OP directly from them. I just use tmo to make phone calls >. <

correct, the United States carriers do not use Google's RCS universal profile, every carrier tried to create their own (here is a quick read of the terrible roll out of RCS, https://www.google.com/amp/amp.tomsguide.com/us/how-to-get-rcs,news-29144.html ) WiFi calling just recently started getting support for non TMobile devices as it finally became baked into Android, but carriers still had to approve the profile that's loaded on to the devices. A perfect example is when I purchased a Lumia 1020 that had wifi built in, visual voicemail, all supported LTE bands for T-Mobile and support for voice over LTE, because it wasn't approved and didn't provide e911 voice over LTE wouldn't function, wifi calling didn't work due to e911, visual voicemail didn't work because it didn't have a profile for TMobile voicemail system, and the 700 mhz band wouldn't function because again, no e911 pass through, and no profile wouldn't connect. the US carriers have different requirements and just plainly do things that don't always make sense.

just an update, RCS isn't working on TMobile currently even though the feature was in the change log.

did you have to enable anything to get this to work. a bunch of users including myself haven't been able to get it to work at all, even after enabling RCS and read reciepts, WiFi calling, etc.

what texting app are you using?

    TIA!
