T-Mobile (USA) update 9.0.2

    ironass , Jan 7, 2019 :
The latest update, 9.0.2, for the T-Mobile (USA) minority carrier variant has just started rolling out at last in the USA, OTA, (Over The Air).

    Changelog:
    • Enables support for additional domestic roaming partners
    That's it!

This is exactly the same firmware as the previous release back in early December 2018 and roughly equates to the global OxygenOS 9.0.5 release of the 6th November 2018, see, here. Even down to the same old November Android Security patch and the same camera version v2.9.43. The only change is, as T-Mobile (USA) state... "Enables support for additional domestic roaming partners"

This is the 3rd update for this model in 72 days.

(N.B. This update is only for the T-Mobile (USA) minority carrier variant and NOT the global model)

Unfortunately seems to still be on November Security patch in this release. Unfortunately it updated overnight so I didn't see the change log pop up before updating. To me it doesn't seem like much changed.

    Cheers G_Jesse_Jameson_KOad

Still on the old November 2018 Android Security patch... WTF!

Would you mind going to Camera > Settings > About... and post the camera version number which used to be the old v2.9.43

Are T-Mobile referring to this latest update as 9.0.3?

It was 9.0.1 but BigT Texas confirms it is now 9.0.2. Is that correct?

Judging from other forums, there are no changes except for...

"Enables support for additional domestic roaming partners"

Even I felt sure in my post, here, that the new release would be based on at least the global model's 9.0.6 or 9.0.7 and that the new camera, if not v3.0.13, would be either v2.10.11 or v2.10.13.

I'm really thinking I need to return my 3 phones. I bought a 6T because they were so good at updating software and T-Mobile has made a mess of it.

    As per my post, here...

"BOTTOM LINE: There was no reason on earth for T-Mobile (USA) to issue their own ersatz firmware other than to control it."

Forgive my brain fart G_Jesse_Jameson_KOad. Have been updating 2 other forums, simultaneously, with info about this update.

Thanks all you guys for your help.

Updated to 9.0.2 and now Google Pay is broken. I get an error that says that my phone has been rooted or altered in some way. I haven't rooted my phone, so I'm not sure what to do. Factory reset didn't fix it either.

No issue here, try performing a cache partition wipe in the recovery.
