One look at the Number of trackers blocked by Duck duck go the saying "Privacy is a myth" is even more established.

We cannot do much in the Internet nowadays without being tracked to oblivion

I fully agree @Tokolozi on your statement "Privacy in the modern era, is a myth people thing they have". Most people don't even realize, that the big Tech companies are abusing the fundamental Human Rights to gain more profits and wealth, leaving the vulnerable expose in the open. But I reckon it, to change any time soon.

These days, websites are not even satisfied with even email id...they want your phone number in excuse of secured otp log in, only to be able to achieve target advertisement.

So I guess it's too late now !

People complain about commercialisation of the web but who is going to pay for hosting, bandwidth etc? As for collecting data from users, that's the trade off. If people don't want to agree to the trade off, they don't get the service. They can decide to start their own service but who is going to pay for it?

The Internet is a business and as such, brands do everything to increase their profits, even if that is at the expense of our privacy data. We will have to be the users, more and more, to demand the privacy and security of our data. Legislation will have to follow so that brands are clearly obliged to comply or they suffer heavy penalties.

    Most people don't even care..
They post about anything on the web...

And actually , those personalized ads, generated out of the collected data, are just dumb..

I get the stuff I search for, presented over and over again, having the effect that I choose not to buy or select another product...

It feels like they want to make me buy the stuff..
And I'm like screw I don't want it anymore, I'm gonna choose another brand...

I'm more concerned about the fact that people have the knowledge of the world in their hands and don't know how to use it...

In the late 90ties I was co-head of an Internet-cafe Franchise call Surf-Inn...
Next to classes how to build simple homepages with html, Excel , Word, we also had courses about how to research the WB wisely and how to email..
Mostly small businesses booked those classes...
But also senior citizen organizations and sometimes we had school classes...

Back then I was like " Hey, people are really interested in using this tool to get knowledge.."

But today it's mostly self-presentation, egomania, jumping on everything that suits the personal interest, without reading between the lines and fact checking...

So if we want to take the web back, stop sharing everything on social media, don't have an opinion about everything...
Ask your self, is my opinion really so interesting, and do I even care if anonymous people from who knows where, have an opinion about mine, and do I really need to share that on every friggin social media channel out there...?

80% of the net is just useless bananas..

    That being said...
Be my guest to ignore this post...😉
