FYI. 3.5.5 still has not fixed the camera compression issue in the default camera app. I have tested extensively using 3 camera apps. Default, a Moto X Pure camera app, and Google camera (3.x newest version).

I am unable to get over a 2mb picture using both the default camera or the Moto X Pure camera app I have sideloaded, regardless of settings (resolution/HQ/HDR). Only with the Google Camera app can I obtain a picture in the neighborhood of 4MB. I downloaded the Google Camera app from apkmir

This one is about compression when focus is fine. Lets keep it separate

    Problem with this device :
It has a really good camera but really poor software support...
Heavy compression, blurred contrast zones, only stock camera app support manual settings and doesn't feature any timed shot setting...
Pretty disapointed, I preffered my Mi4 for this reason!

The other one is about loss of quality due to post processing, or the same as, compressing the image the sensor recieves.

I personally even calculated the % of it. Don't get it wrong in your side, this issue already exists you are just cloning it

    Hi,
    got the same problem.
    Yesterday I updated my OP2 from 2.1.0 to 3.5.6.
And the pictures from that camera app are really bad.
On Oxygen 2.1.0 I was proud to get really good pictures - it was the reason for me to change from Sony Xperia Z3 to OP2.
    But now it's crappy.
So I think about to get back to 2.1.0 - regardless of possible "new features" of 3.5.6.
On 2.1.0 it worked like a charm, never touch a running smartphone.

    OnePlus - Never update.
    or
    OnePlus - Never ever.

Going back to 2.1.0 didn't help. It seems that they updated the old images with that bad compression setting.
If I can't it get working with an alternate camera app I will try to change to another firmware.
But I think it was my last OP.

Why is it difficult for OnePlus to even admit there's an issue? At least give us the peace of mind that a. the problem is acknowledged, and b. it's being worked on.

I've never had this type of odd software issue detract so much from the experience of using a phone. Everything else about the phone is great, but the camera experience, and the lack of feedback from the company leave a bad taste in consumers mouths.

    EXAMPLES OF CAMERA ISSUE -

    Link 2 -

This problem has clearly existed for more than half a year - if this doesn't get resolved, this will be my one and only OnePlus product ever, and will only give my honest, critical feedback to family, friends, and anyone who will listen online.
