All I'm saying is, company can afford to come up with the solution in regards to Coronavirus outbreak. you don't necessarily need to be in China to develop software or whatsoever. The can send a team outside China and give the the facility they need to work on the updates. the whole world is kinda challenged by that bloody virus, that doesn't mean we should stop living. it's just a valid excuse. oh Coronavirus this and that...

I got it yestarday. I kind of like it. The only problem I have is that every time I unlock the phone while on Ambient Display mode it goes directly to Google Assistant settings. Anyone knows how to make it go to the home screen when I unlock?
And, how high/low are the chances of screen burn-in with ambient display?

they can send a team outside of China to work on updates maybe? or Coronavirus will eventually get into our phones as well since the last security patch is for last year and it's out of date!

Anyone actually get this to display pictures?

To those complaining about "only while charging", just leave the cable plugged in. if you are unplugging your phone, you are the same people complaining about battery drain and performance issues. Your phone optimizes when plugged in and fully charged, so keep the cable plugged in! No it does NOT hurt the battery

Well, I think you can disable it if you have no use for that. This feature is not taking anything away, and I bet OnePlus developers had no much need to participate bringing this to us. It more Google teams stuff.

    OK, nice.
But - (1) does it "burn" the display? - it stays on around 7 hours! and (2) can I rotate it? - you know, the cable is in the lower part and I don't have a dock!

From what I've heard, the pixels on the ambient display moves slightly from time to time and they are quite dim as well. So the risk for "burn ins" should be very low. Might be wrong, so contact OnePlus if you are a bit worried.

I don't believe my ears when i see that a brand choose to prefer first extra options before regular security updates. it's almost march 2020 and not november 2019. How you can find this ok as device factory.

You clearly have no idea how software development teams work.
