The size of the 1+2, Misleading or no?

So, my phone for the past four years (Samsung Galaxy S2 X) has finally died earlier this week, and so i looked at the Oneplus 1, only to be delighted to find out that the 2 was going to be released a few days later... So i did some research and came across articles like this:

    http://thenextweb.com/mobile/2015/07/10/the-oneplus-2-will-be-smaller-than-its-predecessor/

Which were explaining that the 2 would be smaller than the 1. I was REALLY hoping for this, as the 1 is far, far too large for me at a massive 5.5 inches. Even as a 6' tall guy i find any phone 4 inches + to be almost unwieldy.

But then, SURPRISE, the two phones are the same size! I don't get it, what happened? If the 2 is smaller than the 1 by only a few millimeters, I don't think its fair to advertise it as being "smaller".

Does anyone know if they're making a smaller phone/version, like around 4.5 inches? You know, something manageable?

There hasn't been any word on a smaller version, so no.

That's a shame then.. Why are all the companies obsessed with making such honking large phones?

Pete (the CEO of OnePlus) did mention multiple phones coming out this year, but we don't have anything else other than that.

Cause then they can take a splice out of the tablet market. Tablet sales have been sucking since smartphones got bigger.

There are a few companies still making smaller smartphones for the lower end market though...

I somehow doubt that to be true. No one I know of wants a bigger phone, they all want sub 5-inch ones. Maybe that's just my group of friends, but still.

Instead of the Two I may buy the LG G Pro 2 which is a 5.9 inch screen. 5.5 almost feels too small sometimes. I'm a 6'3 bass player lol

I completely see what you mean, tbh I really wanted a 5inch(or 5.1inch like the z3) phone from OPO would have been proper nice ,the 5.5 is quite big and sticks out my pocket
