    Hey OnePlus !

Here's my idea for the #pmchallenge

Also called the 'On the Go mode'. We'll call it the transparent mode.
This mode is commonly spotted in most custom roms. But it was always laggy and seemed a bit purposeless.

Here's how we can reinvent On the Go Mode for OnePlus.

The feature is basically making the camera work in the background along with the screen at less opacity. (I've posted a few screenshots from a mobile phone possessing this feature. Remember, it's from a custom ROM). The user should be able to use a physical key to capture the site he spots using the 'Transparent mode'.

Now, I'll Answer the questions and demands of this feature
    (from your post on #pmchallenge)

    Q : Who are the users ?

A: Technically, everyone can use it. But it should be targeted for people who use their mobile phones while walking or doing any other physical activity, and mostly, photographers who wouldn't dare to miss a moment which is being blocked by an opaque object....the smartphone

Q: What is the proposed function ?

A: The screen has less opacity and the camera is used to show what's behind the screen alongside.

Q: What is the user value?

A: The users whom I introduced this feature to the first time wanted me to flash a custom rom in their respective mobile phones. I think it'll be a great hit and worth being advertised with.

Q: If there are existing comparable functions in the smartphone industry, how is your proposed feature superior

A: To my extent of knowledge in the smartphone industry, there is no company which uses this feature in any of their products. This is observed only on custom ROMs as of now.

Q: does it contribute to a burdenless experience?

A: Absolutely ! Now, having a semi-transparent phone in your hand is amazing, isn't it ?? Now, users can stay conscious about the things happening behind the screen, whilst looking at it. They can also click a picture out of it if they wouldn't want to miss the site behind their phone.

Q: how will different parts of the existing OS interact with this new feature?

A: Well, as of now, the custom ROMs work properly with every app except for that the camera app crashes when the mode is on( should be software-fixable ). Doesn't really need much of programming or work to include this.

Q: what will the user experience be like? Does the current flow result in the optimal user journey

A: totally ! with the fastest processor and the fluid experience OnePlus gives us, this is gonna make it even more wonderful. You being able to click pictures even without opening the camera app would be fantastically fast.

afterall, OnePlus is all about speed.

PS: this feature already exists in custom ROMs. all OnePlus has to do is include this in the Oxygen OS, make it less buggy and add all possible features this could posses. I'm including a few screenshots alongwith this thread

    Thanking you !!

Not only would this unnecessarily drain the battery, but encouraging people to use their phones while walking or during other activities just seems a recipe for disaster

yeah, it does, but also reminding you the fact that mobile phones these days aren't really using the full potential of its ram. Phones with 8 or 10 gigs of ram have almost 50% of their ram free. Let's give them some work for a beautiful feature, can't we ?

yes, battery drain is inevitable. But in my existing ROM, I'm loosing about 2-3 hours of work time. Should be less in a phone like OnePlus 6t. And, users should be aware of the fact that it will drain the battery. Or even turning it off when in battery saver mode would help.

Well, no one should be encouraging users to walk with their phones, but giving them an option just to prevent accidents as far as possible at a required circumstance ( say someone is playing a real-time simulation game like Pokemon go ). I want OnePlus to give every possible features in their mobile phones, making them more unique than any other smartphone.

I'm sorry I hold my phone pointing to the ground while walking!
Would be great if I held it perpendicular.
Will still hit a pole or a hydrant nevertheless. :(

Well now, if you are going to look more for defects, there are defects at everything. Please think of the Beauty of possessing a semi transparent phone than looking at the errors which have a very less possibility of occurance.

PS : still, the pole has a base and it does start from the ground. Assuming a person has enough brains to figure this out, will not be a problem for him.
