The Turing Phone: Thoughts?

The Turing Phone seems like an interesting device that's coming out. Reservations start tomorrow and with a Black Dragon version to be released at some point in time as well. It is a phone that is forward thinking and very different.

Personally I like that Turing Robotics has made such a different device. In terms of aesthetics, it's not your typically found smart phone of this generation. Some of the highlights it has to offer include your standard flagship stuff as well as waterproofing IPx8, their own material "luquidmorphium" that looks pretty cool, and futuristic/our of a comic book/movie design.

Some drawbacks however with this device is they use their own proprietary connector/charger cable, wallaby magstream, lack of 3.5 mm jack and transfer of files only through wireless means.

It is certainly a phone I would look into, but not sure if I'd be able to live with the drawbacks. What do you guys think about this phone?

    I thin
I think it's an interesting concept but I find it quite ugly. It's also expensive compared to op2 or Moto x.

I think it's ugly and from the looks of it, it doesn't even look to hold comfortably in hand and I think that's important for a phone

I like it's supposed durability but the fact that you have to transfer everything over the air and can't through the cord seems like a drawback if I don't have Bluetooth or WiFi readily available.

Its way tooo off in aesthetics .
Like someone just jumbled up some boxes on the back.
I think the only pieces they manage to ship are those to the reviewers.

It probably isn't everyone's cup of tea but I would definitely like to see more phone manufacturers go out of the box once in a while. It's pretty much one of the reasons why the Galaxy S6 Edge was so successful as it's different from everything else that's out there while not having any drawbacks much. I would like to see their Black Dragon edition. The only current colour combination I like from the Turing lineup is the Cardinal.

It certainly looks interesting, maybe a bit pricey for me and I'm not sure I'm interesting enough to pay through the nose for security.

On a side note though how cool is that to see some different and specialised phones coming to market. It's nice to escape the clutches of the OEM/carrier complex.

Very cool idea but I feel like they sacrificed a lot of things for what's ultimately a gimmicky design

It's amazing! I cannot tell the difference between the phone and another human being!

Whenever someone says that they have created an 'unhackable' device then they have set themselves up to fail.

It might be more difficult to hack but anything programmed is hackable.

I'm curious to see how durable the hardware is - have they really used the quality of materials that they are claiming?

I will wait until it has actually been released but I doubt it is anything near what it is being sold to be.

Having said that, I welcome the effort and competition.

The internal specs of the phone are identical to the One Plus One. CPU: Snapdragon 801, GPU: Adreno 330, RAM: 3GB DDR3, Display: 5.5 inch 1080p. Yes, a little bit dated but those specs still have 2-3 more years of life ahead of them providing solid performance. The materialistic value, design, and security of the phone is the main selling point.

I don't like the design of the phone with the pointy edges. plus the cost of the phone is too much.
