(To be confirmed) Oneplus one quick charge 2.0 support!

Also read this shocking stuff on android central : You will find Snapdragon-based devices where the manufacturer has opted out of paying for a license to use Quick Charge 2.0, for example the OnePlus One, so be sure to check the specs on your next device to be absolutely sure you're getting this feature if you want it.

    Can anyone confirm it ?

Cyanogen probably merged that commit to every phone that has the 801, because the hardware itself supports it.

The only reason oneplus doesn't have quick charge on their phones (its built in to most Qualcomm soc) is because they don't want to pay the licencing fee. I'm sure theres a ROM out there that has unofficial support for QC 2.0, and all u need on the hardware side is an adapter that can put out 3 amps

Quick Charge chargers only work as Quick Charge with hardware that supports it, so yes, you can.

might be capable. I don't think they will release because there has to be something new in OnePlus 3. NFC and Quick Charge :p

I'm sure I read somewhere that Steve Kondik said the oneplus one is missing hardware for the quick charge to work

Yes that's correct and I agree with that decision as it would push up the cost of the OP2. However, an unofficial ROM with a non-official charger....it'd probably be fine but a majority of people would not want or indeed know how to do that.

Unfortunately that makes sense. The corporations and organizations behind the technology force handset makers to cough up a fee in order to unlock the tech inside. Its no different than T-Mobile or verizon when they ask handset vendors to cough up fees to get certified for the respective networks. Motorola apparently refused T-Mobile VoLTE certification in the new moto g and moto e so T-Mobile asked Motorola to disable band 12 support.

One plus figured that quick charge is not worth the price of admission and passed the cost savings to its customers

I think within the followers of oneplus, there will be a lot more ppl who know how to do this, and are willing to do this than you think. Most of us seem to be power users and like to tinker with with our phones

    Well lets see....

    • Download a terminal app
    • Download Battery Monitor Widget
    • Open Battery Monitor Widget> Install as system app (in the stats section)> reboot
    • Plug the device into a quick charge charger (I don't own one, sorry)
    • The open terminal and run:
      • Code:
        su
        /system/bin/hvdcp
      • Assuming the kernel added QC support for our device.
    • Open Battery Monitor Widget, screenshots the charge stats and share it with us.

If this works, I'll make a little something to automate the process.
