Torras Aluminum Bumper Review

    All,

This is a review of my Torras Aluminum Bumper. Here is a thread where I discussed my initial impressions: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/got-my-torras-aluminum-bumper.56941/. I wanted to make this review before I sent the bumper to @Alexh221.

So I have been using this bumper from the day I got my OPO (July 19th) and I must say, it has saved my OPO quite a few times, even today. I like the feel of the built in buttons. Sometimes though, the buttons are a bit sensitive and I find myself accidentally turning the screen off mid-way through using my phone.

Using the phone with the bumper on, I feel like the aluminum edges almost scrape my skin when I glide across it. It's not like a cutting feel, but more like a gliding fingers across a slim edge of sandpaper. It's hard to describe and I'm sure those with an aluminum bumper could help me describe that feeling. It took awhile for me to get used to that feeling.

As for the cutouts, they aren't exactly lined up (and this bugs be a little being OCD), but they're close. There also appears to be a hairline dent in the top right of the bumper (this was before I ever dropped my phone before), but you have to look closely to find it.

Was it worth it? Absolutely. Would it be worth it now? Depends. If you want to show off your back, I would say yes. I have heard mixed reviews about the clear cases that are currently on the market. For me, it's not worth it any more. I am getting a Diztronic TPU matte black case that should be arriving this week (I'll make a couple threads about that so stay tuned). I do not care to show off the back of the phone. Honestly, I'm not a fan of the texture of the back so a nice TPU case would be perfect for me since it offers more protection and covers up the back.

Here are the pictures of the bumper installed on my phone. I hope you enjoyed this thread.

Nice review! I don't care for the sandstone texture that much myself, hence the Boxwave and Diztronic cases.

Thanks for the review, I've got both the bumper and the diztronic coming, this would be a tough decision!

Potentially. I'll see if it scratched mine when I take it off for the first time to install my TPU case.

I don't think it would affect the rear.

Have you noticed any signal degradation by having it on? I personally have noticed by using any metal type bumpers on other phones have always resulted in at least one bar signal loss.
