OK ..,lets see if we have any smart members on forum :))
Went to utube and listened to some
tutorials on transferring files but gave up. Some said just connect USB cables (phone to Mac), and if phone has USB mass storage ability/and/or download Double Twist, (works sometimes) your all set.
I had language problems with some of the utube people and some talked too fast for a first
time Android owner. I am studying a book on Android OS and am loving my new One+ and
can do much of the basics after 2.5 weeks of my invite. I waited 3 years for Apple to do some-thing Steve Jobs would be happy with and all that was offered for an updated i-phone was nothing
that anyone but the Apple Fan-boys would cheer for. The One+ is my first and only smart
phone, so happy I waited for the best!

Just connect the phone and hit the button on the phone when prompted.
It should get recognized as some kind of USB stick.

You don't have to study a book about Android OS. :)
Well OS X > 10.6.8 should have no problems with the drivers. Otherwise there are drivers available (e.g. Samsung's). Just connect it. Active the mass storage function on your device and it will show up in Finder.

Every android phone I have had requires the android file transfer tool I linked above to work on a mac. Some had the driver embedded, but I would recommend the latest and greatest. Once installed you should be able to drag and drop in whatever folder. Good luck OP.

I don't mean the tool. :D I mean the recognition of OS X and Android.

    I'll save you the trouble...

For Mac users only. You don't need extra software to connect your Android device to a Windows computer.
Android File Transfer is an application for Macintosh computers (running Mac OS X 10.5 or later) you can use to view and transfer files between your Mac and an Android device (running Android 3.0 or later).

You need to download it on your mac then install the .dng one installed your android phone will prompt you to either connect Media Device (MTP) or Camera (PTP) choose MTP. Make sure your phone in unlocked before you connect the cable.
You will then see a file directory of your android phone. Does that help?

Android Device Manager says "No Android Device found" with the 1+1. In settings I have the USB computer connection set to MTP rather than PTP. Any ideas?

SOLVED: Use the 1+1 USB cable, not a generic 3rd party USB cable I had for charging an old work Blackberry...
