The Shumi winery is located in Tsinandali within Georgia’s largest wine region, Kakheti. The word “Shumi” means genuine, undiluted wine.The logo of the winery is a griffin, legend has it that the griffin brought the very first bunch of grapes to the people and it was from these grapes that people started growing vines on earth. In front of the winery you can see about hundreds of different grape varieties. The exhibition hall exhibits ancient wine making accessories found in Georgia, such as grape presses, clay “Qvevri” (pots of great capacity) and various drinking vessels used in ancient Georgia.
