I can't get mine to update, I keep getting the message

"assert failed: apply_patch_check ("/system/framework/apache-xml.jar" , "*string of numbers*")
    E:Installation error in tmp/sideload/package.zip
    (status 7)
    Installation aborted.

I have no idea what to do, can someone help? My phone is one week old.

Same happened to me, the answer from cyanogen guys: "There are different software branches which need different OTA updates to get to 38R and these are NOT always interchangeable. This explains why the zip works for some but not for all. The version of the OTA that you are attempting to sideload is not compatible with the factory image of your device. OTAs for all devices are being rolled out in stages."

So you better wait for the OTA to be rolled out and it's coming fast so don't desperate yourself

I want to thank you personally! I've been trying to do this all day with the zip in the root folder and the navigate option wasn't even coming up at all. I moved it to the download folder, and it worked perfectly, so thank you!

I have used Mirror 1 link. That failed. My phone came with Stock 33R so thats the issue. Then I got the zip file from my friends too who had been able to do 38R install successfully but that failed for me too. Their phones were different in the sense they had to go thru 22R-25R-33R before.
Igomez is right in pointing out that "There are different software branches which need different OTA updates to get to 38R and these are NOT always interchangeable. This explains why the zip works for some but not for all. The version of the OTA that you are attempting to sideload is not compatible with the factory image of your device. It's not that I don't trust you, I've just always prefered downloading things from their original source.
