Thanks for sharing. I hope I don't encounter any network issues with my OnePlus One but if I do, I'll definitely use your tutorial :)

I ordered the microSIM from the T-Mobile website. No cutting required. (Just needed to punch it out from the perforated full size SIM... no tools or drama required.)

New to T-Mobile or already a customer? If you're new mind telling us how it goes when you activate using the OPO IMEI? Apparently not everyone has issues on T-Mobile.

New customer. Luckily the store is a block from my office so I'm not going to leave until its working well. The info in this thread is bookmarked in case of an issue

Sounds very convenient. And I'm sure they'll get you going at the store. But I just want to know if the OPO's IMEI will work or if they activate your OPO by "borrowing" an IMEI from a store display phone.

The OnePlus One displays signals differently compared to that of other phones. Below is a breakdown of what the signals on this phone translate to in terms of the T-Mobile signals:
    • 4G on the OPO = LTE on T-Mobile
    • H+ on the OPO = 4G @ the 42 Mbps max speed on T-Mobile
    • H on the OPO = 4G @ the 21 Mbps max speed on T-Mobile
Everything else below that strength is the same.

Some have had no issues doing the prior, but to be certain, having the SIM card attempt to grab service on a store display phone will ensure that the SIM card is provisioned with the appropriate data plan for Android phones.

I'm confused why this tutorial is necessary. I'm on T-Mob. Had an HTC One M8 so had to get a new sim. Took my OPO into the store, they copied everything to a new Sim, and I was up and running in minutes. No fuss, no muss.

OP clearly stated that not EVERYONE has issues, this is for the people who do have issues activating a new sim card.

I understand that. I'm wondering why it's a problem for some, but not for others. All other things being equal, that is, and I'd assume since we're dealing with identical hardware on the same network they are.

From what I understand is that some OPO IMEI's aren't recognized by T-Mobile.
