This isn't true. I've been using my Apple headphones (EarPods) with a Nexus 4, Galaxy S4 and a Moto X. While advancing songs didn't work, I could use the microphone and play/pause music and podcasts with the remote on the cord.

The microphone does not work on the OnePlus, but I can pause a song or podcast using the remote.

Just got the Amazon ones, they're about the same but the background music of the earphones are softer than the Apple Earpods. A plus is that the volume buttons actually work w/ the Oneplus One.

Basically this, the Apple earphones/earpods, and any other earphones designed for iPhone, work on a different standard which is not supported by every Android device, the OPO included.

Good news is this might not be the case for long, based on this quote from that page.

The apple heaset Mic is still not working due to something they dont undersatnd.. It seems there is some kind of intiation code to send to the mic before it can be use... THey are still working on that part ;)

Lets hope they find out before next ota !

Indeed it would be nice, though it doesn't affect me any more since I bought Xiaomi Piston's (highly recommended btw).

Why are you using Apple Earphones? You own an Android. That's like taking a Coca-Cola and Pepsi an mixing it together.

By the way, the OPOs new headphones will solve your problem.

It's solely an OPO problem. My Bose MEI2i (same setup as Apple's, they have the 'Made for iPhone' branding) work/worked fine on my Galaxy S4, HTC One M7 (and M8), Nexus 5, and LG G3.
It even works on my PC with a mic+headphone splitter.

No real reason it shouldn't work on the OPO, but it just doesn't.
