Why is beta being discussed? The version of the from Oxygen Updater and the OnePlus website is the exact same. There's no need to reinstall unless you are having issues.

Open Beta firmwares are completely different.

yes, i'm not talking about the beta version at all, I'm talking about the stable version. Below is the screenshot of the message that I get while trying to install OOS 5.1.4 downloaded from one plus support website. I'm already on OOS 5.1.4 installed through Oxygen updater.

    Backup data.
    Flash rollback zip - https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=673791459329070089
    Flash 5.1.4
    Wipe system cache
    Restore Data

Once Rollback Zip is flashed an OTA for 5.1.4 maybe also be available in system update.

If you are having issues after a factory reset and your goal is to use a version from the website or OTA, this is the method.

OS versions are not regional. They are simply rolled out incrementally.

    Click the link.
    Choose a server.

Again backup your data before flashing.

I'm think there is some bug in 5.1.4, I just did a factory data reset and tried installing OOS 5.1.4 which I downloaded from OnePlus website, first attempt, it said user data will be wiped, tried again, it went through without user data being wiped.
I tried the local upgrade option again and it still gives me the same message even though it's the same file which I'm trying to flash.

Then you didn't install the Rollback firmware correctly.

That's why you're still getting an error I said to use the Rollback firmware for a reason.

thanks, did use the roll back and did get the OTA update.
But then, from 5.1.3 I was able to go back to 5.1.1:& 5.1.2 without data wipe.
Just curious to know - So does it mean that 5.1.4 is an upgrade and so we can't go back to 5.1.3 without doing a data data wipe?, although we are still in Android 8.1

Yes exactly. To downgrade you need to start the Rollback process all over again.
