The real reason always on display was scraped for OP6
With only a 3300mah battery the same size they provided in the OP5 battery life was always going to be decreased in the newer OP6 model.

This is a big mistake already there are tons of posts about 5-6 hours SOT not being enough but remember it's powering a bigger screen.

Imagine all the threads that would be created for people using the AOD (always on display) option and the moaning and the thousands of thread saying I only got 3-4 hours SOT.

Sadly oneplus should have fitted a 4000mah battery but I suggest this is down to build costs and profit margins so you will all have to accept it.

op6 comes with 845 ie a power efficient than 835 so we might get same results theoretically but practical results r different
they must have provided at least 3500 for a bigger screen

Battery in always on mode on Pixel 2 is decreased, and the user is made aware of this. Still lasts through the whole day. Is your point that OP6 should have a bigger battery?

    From GSMArena.com

Here’s a (now deleted) response from OnePlus:

We have an official update from our Technical Team confirming that always on display on OnePlus 6 was removed due to battery saving concern.

We hope that this clarifies your concern. Let us know if there's anything else.

yep they have realised they have release a newer model that can't outlast all its previous models for SOT.

the knock on effect will.be hundreds of thousands of posts killing the forum on battery life
