Please use this thread for any questions, SOT, tips, issues and all things related to battery and heating of the OnePlus 8 pro .

Please note that the way you use the phone (daily usage scenarios and habits) will make a huge difference to the battery/heating performance. In a scenario where there is a heavy performance workload, such as photo shooting/video shooting/mobile gaming/video consumption, the power consumption and heating of the phone will increase accordingly, which is a normal phenomenon.

You are more than welcome to share any battery tips and tricks in the comment section and ask a forum moderator to pin your post on the first page of this thread.

Battery optimization never ends. To help OnePlus better resolve battery/heating-related issues, please submit a bug report via the Feedback Tool in the Community app. Thank you in advance.

    Hey,

I got a one plus 8 pro in pre-sale and I've been using it for the past two days.

I've been a OnePlus user since the OnePlus one and I'm really disappointed with the battery life of this device. It barely lasts 12 hours without an extensive use. It also gets quite hot some times.

Are you experiencing the same kind of issues?, could be that my device is defective?

    Thanks,

    Pablo

Install GSam Battery Monitor/BetterBatteryStats beta - give 'em the required permissions, see what's draining your battery.

Li-Ion batteries have never needed this. "Give it a few charges" - is nothing but a myth.

I'm actually experiencing the same issue, battery lasts for about 5.5h at 120hz, I didn't expect such low performance, even with 2h playing games it shouldn't last that bad.

BTW: Why can't I make a new thread? It tells me that I do not have enough permissions.

At the moment I have 5 hours SOT with 30% battery left. 120 HZ and QHD+ are enabled.

So it seems like you get a fancy upgrade (120hz) and it's absolute death to the battery so to keep the battery alive you need to leave your phone in 90hz?

I have the same problem and for me it seems like it's the "mobile network standby" thats draining. Turned off 4G network and saw a great improvment with only 3G. Let's see how it does over night.

So if I understand this correctly. You need the 8 pro to only use either 60hz (same as any other phone) or use 3G only to make the battery last?

I use 120 Hz, but something with the mobile network standby is broken. After disabling 4G I only lost 3% battery over night (8 hours) instead of 15% with it enabled.
