Hello everyone, If I recap for the battery:
    - Charging from 20-80% help make the battery last long
    - Dont clear cache
    - Use Dark mode
    - Difference between FHD and QHD isn't big (unlike refresh rate)
    - You can leave the phone plugged all the night, it doesn't damage the battery
    - Don't discharge to 0%
    - You can use your phone while charging

    do Im right?

PS: So Can I let my phone on the oneplus warp charge 30 while Im sharing data please?

Also the maintaining work and optimize being done while on the charger at 100% and not being used. So 100% has benefits as well.

So never fully charging and letting the device be connected for a while can over time lead to a less optimized device.
People obsessing over using 20-80% miss out on that optimize and forget about that they actually just use 60% of the battery and risk excessive drain and extra wear on the charge port too. They might instead use "battery calibration methods" that in some cases actully just allows the phone to finish the optimize and has nothing to do with calibrating.
The lack of triggering the optimizing demands can be bypassed by manually forcing a optimize via adb shell though. If you still want to use the 20-80% routine.

    cmd package bg-dexopt-job

Some info about what the optimize does and more.

So if I let my phone ( with sharing mobile data)on the oneplus warp charge, the phone will use the power from the support and not from the battery? So it doesn't impact battery's life right?

When reaching 100% it does not continue and overcharge. There is no real differance between wireless or cable. On the wireless you can use bedtime mode and charge slower.
The optimized charging feature will halt the charge at 80% if the phone believes you are sleeping. This is to avoid 100% at longer times than really necessary. 100% over very long times wear more than 50% (the recommended long term storage level). But you can't keep a phone at 50% nor maintain optimal temperature at all times.
No matter what a battery slowly decrease it's life time even if just leaving the factory and being stored on a shelf.

Personally I just enjoy the phone and don't worry. What is the price tag on just enjoying the phone anyways? 😉
If a phone would need a new battery before upgrading to next phone I don't see the cost as that high.

any idea what "Oneplus System" is in GSAM?
and why the consumption is so high?

i just only installed GSAM so its only like 1h of usage however i saw it in my old GSAM installation too
if i take a look at other people GSAM screenshots i never see Oneplus System?

Maybe thats the reason for my "not so great" battery?

Charging my new OnePlus 8 Pro

    Hi folks

I'm getting my recently bought OnePlus 8 Pro replaced as it had battery issues. I was hardly getting a 4 hour of screen on time with regular usage.

Just wanted your 2 cents on how should the new device be charged for the first few times? Do I need to charge it overnight for apps to get optimized or a generally recommended 20-80% charge cycle should work fine? I don't want another device with battery issues, thus the caution 😅

    Appreciate the help, guys

Nightly charges can actually be good regarding optimizing.
You can however manually force it via a command in adb shell.

    cmd package bg-dexopt-job

But there is also the possibility of some issues and unnecessary drain.
This is the info I often post regarding this.

You can force manual background optimizing and view the actual CPU usage via ADB.
Background optimizing (adb shell) : cmd package bg-dexopt-job
CPU usage (adb shell) : top -m 10 (or a other number of your choosing).

    Alternate battery stats app.

    Adb installation.

    Try clearing cache from Recovery.
Disable WiFi Scanning and Bluetooth Scanning from Location settings.
Clear Google Play Services Cache and Data. Reboot after this.
Check for background apps draining battery.

I got a one plus 8 pro and I've been using it for the past one month.

I've been a OnePlus user since the OnePlus one and I'm really disappointed with the battery life of this device. It barely lasts 12 hours without an extensive use. It also gets quite hot some times.

Are you experiencing the same kind of issues?, could be that my device is defective?

Something runs havoc on you device. Looks like some type of system component acts crazy. If we know what we might know what to do.
You should see more details with the help of this command via adb shell.

CPU usage (adb shell) : top -m 10 (or a other number of your choosing).

    Adb installation.
