[UNIFIED] Battery and heating feedback thread OnePlus 8

I agree, either you have some app running in the background that is consuming lots of battery power or you have a defective unit. Try a factory reset and install only your essential apps. If that doesn't fix the issue, I would contact OnePlus support and tell them that you have a defective battery.

yes!! I did this , I will take your words guys and will do a factory reset and instead of recover from a backup I will start from scratch and just download the apps I use! I will backup everything later and let u guys know , just by looking at the screen 10 minutes you can see how the battery goes down

the most I've got is around 4hrs and 40mins SOT and 36hrs since my last charge. it's hard for me to get lots of SOT to test because I work 6 nights a week so have limited time in work and when I'm home I am normally asleep. Not sure if that's good or bad.

    considering the 36hs I think that's a good SOT

I am using OnePlus 8 since 2 days. I think i am not getting good SOT as the tech reviewer mentioned like 8 hrs. Today i got 5hr 18mins SOT while battery ran from 88% to 9%. system settings: black theme, haptics on, live wallpaper on, 90Hz.
And also the app accubattery is telling only 93% battery health. Is there something wrong with device?

Can you please share me your images.. I don't think it's because of in display fingerprint sensor but rather burn in.

TBH i didn't assess the battery backup as you did. I used it with all the default settings as you did and as far as i remember with 100 percent to 50% battery remained, SOT was around 4 - 4, 1/2 hours, taking in consideration i was watching series..

    Yeah, I'll let you know[e]1f44d[/e]

To add my battery life experience...

Using AccuBattery, I can confirm that my OnePlus 8 using the 90hz display setting (instead of 60hz) will increase the battery consumption by approx. 8-10% per hour.

Screen On Battery Discharge (No device usage, just screen on at 50% brightness)
    60hz
    Usage:4.7 %/h
    Consumption:213.7 mA
Instant Consumption:175mA (Scrolling the screen increases this to 271mA)

    90hz
    Usage:13.6 %/h
    Consumption:256.4mA
Instant Consumption:221mA (Scrolling the screen increases this to 337mA)

Not sure if that’s to be expected or not, seems a bit high to me?

I got my OnePlus 8 some days ago. So here is a question of a "newcomer" to this phone: According to literature the lithium-accu should only charged to 80% and not discharged less than 30%. So is it according to your opinion useful to do so with the OnePlus 8?

The OnePlus 8 (and pro) will trickle charge the battery to 100% based on your charging habits so that's no a problem.

In terms of running the battery to empty, I would only suggest doing this once a month no more. This ensures the battery is cycled correctly.

I think there's more to it:
    - charging speed (faster is affecting the battery health over time)
    - capacity it's holding (above 80% and below 30% it's affecting battery health over time)

charging speed is solved by trickle charging to 100%
capacity problem is still there so you have to manually check for that

Probably the best for your battery would be to not use Warp charge and instead go for the slower normal charging and stay between 30-80% but that's not realistic in real life. Who wants to miss out on the quick charging?
