    Moderator edit:

Please use this thread for any questions, SOT, tips, issues and all things related to battery and heating of the OnePlus 8T .

Please note that the way you use the phone (daily usage scenarios and habits) will make a huge difference to the battery/heating performance. In a scenario where there is a heavy performance workload, such as photo shooting/video shooting/mobile gaming/video consumption, the power consumption and heating of the phone will increase accordingly, which is a normal phenomenon.

You are more than welcome to share any battery tips and tricks in the comment section and ask a forum moderator to pin your post on the first page of this thread.

Battery optimization never ends. To help OnePlus better resolve battery/heating-related issues, please submit a bug report via the Feedback Tool in the Community app or here

    Thank you in advance.

to get the best of your battery , do these steps , you don't need to do all of them, do what suits you best :

    1- disable apps in
    - settings >> Security & Lock Screen >> Device admin apps
    - settings >> System >> Accessibility

2- in developer options, in networking section, enable
    App Wi-Fi Multi/Broadcasting Filter

3- in developer options , in APPS section
click background check and disable any app there ( unless you need that service)

4- settings >> battery >> Battery optimization >> advanced optimization
    - Adaptive Battery
    - Sleep standby optimization

5- set screen brightness to manaul
    6- use dark theme
7- long press location icon on notifications >> Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth scanning
    - Wi‑Fi scanning
    - Bluetooth scanning

    8- disable notifications in
    - Google play store
    - Google maps
9- optimize Google app if you can , if you can't disable it .
if you need it disable its notification and any services you don't need inside its settings.

    10- optimize snapchat
11- use browser instead of facebook and tiktok apps ( all the time running in background )
    12- settings >> accounts
stop synchronization for any account you don't need it to be synchronized.
13- in battery >> battery optimization
check apps to find any one running in background , add it to optimized apps 1604254175559.jpg

    1. Check if the issue is due to any background app.
    2. Use any battery app to check battery and charging issues. Eg BetterBatteryStats
    3. Post some screenshots of the battery setting while charging.
    4. Try restarting the device maybe.

This phone has heating issue. It starts heating within 15 minutes of normal usage. Also apps doesn't install due to storage issue whereas i have around 200 gb storage available. Updated the latest update but still facing the same issue.

I chose not to hide the camera but during calls it hides the top portion which makes the screen look small and ugly.

Video calling option is not working while making calls.

Hope the next update will solve this issues.

I have the OnePlus 8T with OxygenOS 11 pre installed :) is there an option in the quick toggles to directly acces the battery conditions, like battery time, procentage, and so on?

New 8T has a battery health of 93% according to the Oneplus Diagnostic app. Is this normal or accurate?
I haven't noticed issues so far but just to be sure.

Can you tell me in what scenario you have tested/used. For me it first got extremely hot when I was downloading all the apps from playstore. I thought it would be a one time thing. Then for video calls over whatsapp it gets hot. When I play PUBG it gets very hot. I can see the temperature in the game mode. It starts at 33 and goes till 39. I can feel both the screen and the back become hot, the camera module too. I was hoping the update might fix it but it didn't. Not sure if it just a defective piece or all the phones are like this. A technician from Amazon is coming over to check the phone

Many things can cause heating issues, too much background apps, high ambient temperature, playing games for long.
You need to worry If the phone heating in standby or low-power consumption scenarios

Thank you for your valuable response. I don't play games nor did I keep many background apps open. I also have a OnePlus 5T in which I never faced this issue. I have to work all day and hence use the phone all day long. I even noticed that my screen on time on battery is quite less.

I haven't played games, so can't comment. On video calls which are also resource demanding, the phone gets warm and that is normal. It doesn't get hot.

As with charging, I plug it in during the day, and although I haven't checked the exact time it takes to charge fully, I can say that it charges completely from 15% or 20% in about 40 minutes. I always plug in before the charge drops below 15%.

I don't seem to have problem per say with the charging speed. But while charging too it gets real hot. I have a one plus 8 in the house which never gets hot for any of the mentioned activities. While video calling is performance intensive, none of my old phones got hot either. I wouldn't expect a phone that costs this much money to have this problem. I would have bought a one plus 8 instead! Will see what Amazon says.

You can't know that already... Android needs a couple of full battery cycles to settle.
Also, as your device is newly installed, you probably downloading and using it a lot more.

I'm getting nearly 5 hours of SOT with 20% battery left with very light gaming. If i indulge into heavy gaming i get nearly 4 hours of SOT which is also good.
