Fake 5G in OnePlus!
On 16th Dec 2020, Cabinet of India approves Auction of 5G spectrum in 700, 800, 900, 1800, 2100, 2300 & 2500 MHz frequency bands only. 5G will be deployed in these bands in India.

OnePlus Nord (Indian Variant) only supports N78 Band, which is based on 3500 MHz. 5G in Nord will NOT work in India. Indian Defense, ISRO communications and Indian-NAVIC (GPS) rely on 3500 MHz. Govt. of India will never allow auction and deployment of 5G services in this band.
I'm surprised that even OnePlus 8T, 8 and 8 pro(the flagships of 2020) even only support ONE 5G band. (n78). OnePlus is playing a mass scam with us. All OnePlus 2020 phones are sold as 5G ready, but we'll never be able to enjoy 5G in them.
Don't do false publicity, marketing stunts and fool people into buying OnePlus 5G phones. When there is no support for all 5G bands, how can one say that the phone has 5G support. Atleast install antenna for 2,3 more bands to make it future proof. Take example from other brands, all of them are giving support for all sub 6Ghz bands 5G!
I'm surprised to see how a brand like OnePlus can play such cheap tricks with its loyal user base. Stop selling name sake, FAKE 5G!
edit (11/02/21) : DOT (dept. of Telecom) India confirmed auctions of only these bands-

Yes!
It is the way. Take examples from other midrange 5G phones. Or if we talk about OnePlus 8T, take examples of other premium phones in the same price bracket. How they managed to give support for all bands? And why OnePlus can't give the same support? How it can do the cost cutting at such crucial thing?

That's what I'm saying.. the global version is more expensive for a reason... To add more bands cost more money(don't know why OnePlus decided to go with band 78 if it's military only) But 5G won't be a widely adopted in India for years to come, so I would not see this as a huge issue... Most Nord users won't even have the phone anymore when 5G networks are available for the masses.

Actually, no one (including OnePlus) knows before that our defense and navigation systems are based on these frequencies. Everyone came to know about this recently when government denied, stating this as a reason, after multiple auction requests of this band by Telecom companies. said:
Jio 5G (largest Telecom operator) will be launching in India in second half of 2021, as stated by Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Jio.

So, 5G isn't that faaaaar!
My previous phone is a 4 years old Asus phone, still working fine. And I'd planned to use OnePlus Nord too for atleast 3.5-4 years. I think.....I now may need to upgrade it sooner within 2 years. It's also okay with me but what about 8T/8/8pro users?😂 I literally feel sad for them.😬 They have paid a premium fee only to use their phone for next 1 or 2 years...
Thanks OnePlus!
