Battery of my #OP3 works perfect. I charge it in the morning close to 100% before going to office i.e. 9:00 AM and it consumes around 50% before I return home i.e. around 8:00 PM. I recharge it for next 30 mins and below is the current status.

After the pie update (3 days ago) I noticed a marked improvement in battery life. Was ok before and its great now. Not so much of a difference in idle time but with screen on time. Love the update so far.

So after updating to Pie, no problems with the overall performance so far but phone shuts down at night. It happened twice. First night I went to bed with 30% battery and woke up in the morning with complete dead battery. I had to recharge to turn on the phone. Then again, last night, I had about 80% battery when I went to sleep. The phone shut down at some point during the night. I woke up late this morning because I didn't hear any alarm, reached towards my phone and found out it's off. Turned it back on and found out it only had around 26% battery left. How come on idle, a battery drain from 80% to 26%. By the way, the phone was in battery saver mode plus airplane mode in both cases. During normal usage, I haven't found any problem with battery backup, but why does it drain so fast at idle??!! I'm pretty sure it's a software problem. Please fix as soon as possible.

I don't think so, I'm facing this problem since the first day I updated. After update, I performed a factory reset. Even if I'm using it heavily, I get good battery backup. It's just when idle, the battery drains too fast. Why?

If it was a hardware defect, how come the problem happens only after Pie update?

Uninstall junk apps from your phone.
For the first couple of days, leave the phone on charge overnight.

I don't have any junk apps, just bare essentials. But I'll try your method, thanks for the advice.

In this case, OP says it started after the Pie update.

In your case too it could have been a software/ app related problem. Did it solve after they replaced the motherboard for you with the same set of apps?

More than likely it wasn’t a hardware problem.

if service centre asked me to replace motherboard it's a hardware problem

i have a better experience of this problem facing since 8.0.0

Did they put 3T motherboard on a 3?

If the problem started just after an update, it is most certainly a software or app related issue and not a hardware defect.

Service centres usually have a bunch of incompetent people who know very little, and may be they didn’t even replace your motherboard contrary to what they told you. They might have just done a factory reset or flashed the correct rom for you.

i did the same thing when i got the first built of oreo i updated phone and i observed that problem and then i thought a factory reset would fix it but then still it wasn't fixed so i been using Photo just like that till 5.0.8 it used to random shutdown and battery drains too quickly when it was off and at last before pie would arrive on my phone , my phone was dead
