same issue over here, running 9.09 on my 5T. phone was at 100% when i woke up, now 4 hours later it's down to 49%, whatsapp major app that sucks the battery dry.
wondering if this is an issue due to whatsapp devs messing up or if it's on the side of oneplus.
i don't even wanna start using some half-baked solutions like turning on battery saver if that's an issue that needs to be fixed from the dev side.

Hey guys I'm having the same issue.

I woke up 2 days ago in the middle of the night around 2 or 3 to find out I have only 1% battery left. I usually charge my phone (up to 90%) before sleeping so I was surprised to find out it was Whatsapp that used more than 50%.
After reading about the issue I cleared the cache and logged off from Whatsapp Desktop.

Yesterday night it happened again and unless I forced it to stop it continued to drain the battery until my phone shut off.
Today I made some screenshots of my battery usage and you can see todays and last nights drainage.

I have a OP 3 running OxygenOS 9.0.5 and Whatsapp version 2.19.308 if that helps.

I also have the battery drain from WhatsApp. Seems like a Issue with a recent App update which keeps a service awake and drains battery. I checked CPU usage - if WhatsApp is running, Clock Speed is alwas around 1,8 and 2Ghz. That is way too much! That is why my phone felt slow the last few days...

I'm using an OP3 and the WhatsApp beta and that used lust 0.3% last night, have you tried using the beta or downloading an older version of the app from APKmirror?

I’ve been getting same battery drain since the WhatsApp update.
Hoping for a fix from developer or OnePlus soon, phone can’t get thru the working day at the moment!

Update: installing Version 2.19.274 did help me. Seems like a recent update causes the battery drain. Install the mentioned Version (you can get it from APK Mirror, just Google) until the devs from OP or WhatsApp fix this issue. Don't forget to turn off Automatic Updates for WhatsApp in PlayStore, otherwise it will overwrite it again with the bug Version. Hope this was helpful

I am currently using OnePlus 3.
I am observing a pattern in my phone's working. I charge my phone upto a 100% and go off to sleep and within 8-9 hours the battery gets completely drained and the phone goes off. The phone switches off when there is 40% battery.
Also, I am constantly getting a 'WhatsApp is draining the battery' alert/notification.

    What do I do ?????

See my post above your post :) Try installing previous version of WhatsApp.

To keep data, create a Backup first, uninstall WhatsApp, install older Version and recover the backup.
