Netflix and Facebook could drain it too. Games just do it faster. ;)

Are we supposed to keep the phone in the pockets to reach that SOT then mate? These are day to day used apps that weren't an issue earlier. It's like a standard "That's what's doing it excuse" I find after this update. The same apps easily gave screen usage upto 6-7 hrs easy earlier.

actually, if you have used enough Android devices and long enough, you'll know its a common complain. if you could, save all your app apks, factory reset, dont sign into your Google account. you'll see the amazing battery you so desire.

the above tests shows that OP isnt the issue

forget about those, Can you post yours battery usage also please.
I really want to see yours as whenever I search for any suggestions or something related to battery, you just come in the middle and ask for battery status. can you do it please.

Your phone when left on a charger even when it's at 100% starts optimisation

If you do not let this optimisation complete by letting your phone be in a charger for a few hours even after it's at 100% you will face battery drain

After a system update this optimisation has to be redone from scratch

If the optimisation doesn't complete the system does on the fly optimisation

On the fly optimisation is fire and forget code so the same thing has to be optimised again and again because the result cannot be saved

On the fly optimisation is performed by JIT which runs in the context of android system

When you show the battery chart with the show full device usage option selected from the 3-dot menu on the top right we see how much battery android system is using

If it's using too much then you didn't allow the phone to complete optimisation

The solution: preferably charge your phone overnight while it is turned on
Do not wipe caches as this will make it worse

People often want things fast without realising that everything takes it's own time to happen

Battery drain is common after a system update but users just want the fix. They don't want to know why it happens.

Totally, after the recent update I noticed that the battery was draining really fast. I was in Sub-Zero temperatures right after the update so I thought it was probably because of the cold weather but once I came back home (Chennai) where the weather always fairly average, the problem still persists. Kindly do something about this OnePlus.

alright, but why did you reply to me instead of others who are expecting such kind of explanation??
I am happy to see my battery giving 7 to 8 hrs of SOT .

For you here having battery drain issues, have you tried wiping the cache partition from the bootloader?

    Stop

    Do NOT wipe cache

This will make battery drain worse

I'd try the above-poster's suggestion too, about using Data-Saver.
I pretty much leave this on, with a couple of apps in the exception list (allowed data when data-saver is on), most of the time, and see very little performance hit, but it does help a LOT, in terms of background battery drain.
When it's enabled, it prevents any app, except those given exclusion permissions, from using background data.

Obviously, you don't want to apply this to things like "phone", and "messages", and some of the system apps must not be prevented from background processing, as well.
This DOES prevent things like apps that are "tracking your every move" from running constantly and using a TON of battery, unless you explicitly allow them.

I use maybe 3-5%, overnight, with this enabled, for example.

using Bluetooth connection for 15 mins for listening the music drops battery percentage by 5 %
One plus is providing any fix or battery issue any time sooner...or it cannot be resolved...??

This drain in the graphs above is (mostly) due to the Social apps.
My daughter uses Instagram, mostly, and it's a HUGE draw, even when set to NOT run in the background (because foreground updates pull SO much data). WhatsApp has long been a huge data-user, too, and also (obviously) a huge battery sink.

Like @Kytharsis says, "if you're happy with those 3 hours...", well that's a choice.
If you want to get more than that, you'll have to disable background data for those apps, and limit their foreground use as well (disable all the auto-download of videos, etc).

If you're using a TON of data, plus codecs and more to translate it, that's a LOT of battery drain, both data-driven and CPU, there's just no way around it.

As for the Bluetooth drain, can you please post your battery graphs, as well? The 5% for 15 minutes might be perfectly normal, depending on what else is running, simultaneously...
