Unfortunately, it did revert back, but it worked for over a month with no issues. The OnePlus software upgrade page doesn't seem to have the latest version that I have installed (I have v11.0.1.1 and v11.0.0.2 is what is posted on the page), and it won't let me downgrade, so it doesn't look like there's anything I can do until they release a new update.

    EDIT: I found another solution.

I am literally dying with laughter of how stupid this sounds...but it worked.
    1. Go to settings
    2. Search for "Screen Calibration"
    3. Set it to "Natural"
    4. Search for "Dark Mode"
    5. Disable Dark Mode
    6. Clear the cache and storage for Netflix and/or Prime Video, or whatever streaming apps you use
    7. Open the Play Store
    8. Tap the user icon in the search bar, then click on Settings > Authentication
    9. Disable "Biometric authentication"
    10. Re-enable it...you will probably need to enter your password again
    11. Power off your device
    12. Boot to recovery mode by holding the Volume Down and Power buttons at the same time, until a keyboard shows up.
    13. Enter your password/pin
    14. Click Wipe Data and Cache (note that this WILL NOT WIPE YOUR PHONE'S DATA, it's just a bad name for a menu)
    15. After you click that, it should bring you to a menu where you can select "Wipe Cache." Do so.
    16. It'll ask if you want to reboot, do so.
    17. Change your Screen Calibration/Dark Mode settings back to their original settings.
You can use the DRM Info app from the Play Store to check if your Windvine level has been restored.

    Good luck...

You seem to be ignoring my point, that this is an android issue, although it's not affecting all devices, as such it needs a unified fix in the underlying Android code base, not a cobbled together fix by OnePlus and other OEMs.

Once I have the time I'll be more than happy to try this and post back... But this is claimed to work which really would be appreciated. It was posted today....so I've forwarded to here also today.
Just be advised that this will wipe/reset your device so as ALWAYS MAKE A BACK UP FIRST.
Good luck and hope you success. If possible, please confirm here it is worked or not cause I'm hoping for more verification that this is the solution (b4 I waste more time on this issue). Thanks
edit: this is in reference to the global OOS so I'm unsure if this is the same for other versions. I've previously dirty flashed from 10 to 11 which did not solve this matter so it is possible the method offered can/will correct everything (in theory). thanks said:

Oh ok great and thanks for the confirmation... Great to know finally some progress.
Guess I forgot to mention that may be you check/verify widevine status after the MSN tool reset on 10.0.16 BEFORE the OTA update.... Unless you already did that b4 the OTA update to 11
I'm still not sure if the L3 problem is a 10 issue or 11 issue... Or if the MSN tool corrects the issue while on 10 then keeps it for 11... Seems to be something fundamental with the MSN tool to restore the device for L1.
I also don't know why I need to use 10 with the MSN tool to reset - as in why not just use 11 with the MSN tool to reset (for those who want the update to 11 unlike yourself)???
I'm hoping that has been explained more clearly?
    Thanks
edit: I'm on 11 with no real problems other this this L3 irritation... so can I ask why you want specifically want to stay on 10 (which was awesome for me). Cause the only reason I finally updated to 11 was that's what I was told to to by OnePlus tech support to fix it - which failed miserably....
Other than that I'd really recommend 11 - especially a clean install as you have done... I only completed the dirty update from 10 to 11 which saved my data, etc. And from what I gather, the method I've used can/will have the greatest chance of causing issues at every turn (that I've yet to experience...) and the clean/full reset through MSN tool is recommended highly to eliminate chances of issues between 10 and 11. That goes for any Andriod device software update as far as I'm aware.
But, if you are looking for 10 due to problems - and you've now reset and updated then my recommendation is to try this now and prove your problems are still an issue or fixed (hopefully). just my 2 cents with
    Please advise
    THANKS

My oneplus 7T is not unlocked still DRM shows widevine L3.
What should I do to get back L1 without unlock and reset?
Will factory reset work to get back L1?
