I'm no expert but the guy was most likely expecting pictures of women (which were 99% of the replies). He saw this kid messing around and thought it was funny.

I'm a 43 year old woman. I am assuming that this place is crawling with adult men. I am also assuming that most of the adult males here would rather have "harmless fun" with other adults.

If you wouldn't become friends with/exchange pics with random 14 year olds in real life, you shouldn't be doing it on the internet.

Probably so. Hence why I said simply could be poor judgment.

You say you disagree with @laughingmonsta , but it is strange I agree with both of you.
Kids are exposed to things in a way that wasn't possible before. They may not be "safe" behind their own front door. I know how easy it is for children to talk to adults they don't know and get positive affection back.

But there are different ways of protecting a child. Teaching them right and wrong, teaching them how to keep safe are all part of that. Whilst they are learning sometimes you have to intervene for their benefit. Then you need to explain an continue educating them. So both elements of teaching and protecting are valid. Both different tools for the same aim.

Protecting - without explaining why, and without providing opportunities for kids to hone their life skills -- is useless.

    I'm a middle-ground person.

I cannot fully be in the "let kids make their own mistakes and stop coddling them" camp when it comes to the internet. I believe kids need policing.

Otoh, if they don't have opportunities to test their judgment, they become adults who are unable to manage for themselves.

I thought about it. I'd prefer it if @Wrighty took the pics down, but the thread could be left. There's a point to be made.

Besides, you reported it to the wrong people. Try noel, muddy46, spakolo, nguser, GregOrevo or Adam Krisko. :)

That is absolutely not grooming. Who is the adult doing the grooming in this scenario of yours? Pete Lau?
