Settings-- Developer options-- Enable advanced reboot -- Hold the reboot button -- Click recovery -- Then enter your pin -- Select the language -- Click on wipe data and cache -- Click on wipe data -- Now click done -- Click on install from internal storage -- Select the downloaded package -- Let it install
P.S:- You'll lose all data. Download the package from downloads.oneplus.net

this is an internet forum, of course there are threads complaining, that is what people do on internet forums. Many of the complaints are completely stupid though - my phone is heating up after the update; when it is heating; while I am playing PUBG; well obviously....etc etc.

Go to file manager and enable hidden folders under 3 dots at the top right. There should be a .OTA folder I think. Delete that.

no i don't care about heating at all, i know this phone can handle everything. actually i suffered a lot due to degraded camera performance when i upgraded from Nougat to Oreo (that oil pastel effect). I don't want that to happen again with me as people here are complaining about poorer camera after 8.1 that's all.
