    This applies to all IN2020 and IN2021 (regardless of installed OS). Say thank you to all the crazy Youtubers, tech sites and all the users that fell for it and believing it was a a true x-ray camera and started complaining even without having tried it for themselfs... Oneplus basically gave those what they wanted.
    They caved in due to reactions on boxes under shirts and the overreaction of users that had no clue on what they complained at. No real "dangerous" examples of proof what so ever...

    SHOULD be temporary though.

    Yeah. True or real issue... Not that important compared to views.
    People should have thought twice and actually tried it BEFORE reacting. I asked for proof of something real other than boxes and notes in OPTIMAL circumstances over and over again.... Never any link or sample of something that actually was taken with the phone that could be a issue. I wasn't asking for boob pics... Even men can offer proof of "dangerous" revealing hints of nipples.
    Best proof I ever saw was an Indian woman showing hints of an bra under shirts (no idea what she said since it was hindi). Not like that EVER is visible in normal situations WITHOUT the camera 😋

    I've been looking through all these posts and have the same problem as many, bought in Australia, no mention of Chinese version, I bought this phone SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE of the infra red filter, as I have been utilising it for photography of landscapes and experimenting with particular aspects. My phone is in2020, which I now realise is the Chinese variant. My phone is running latest update 10.5.10, still no photochrome. Can someone from ONE+a confirm this feature will be reinstated shortly, or am I going to have to return this phone and demand a Local handset? This should have been easy for one+ to determine which handsets were in China by Geo locational data. Severely disappointed with this action and will not recommend this product to my clients (I'm in telecommunications) if they continue to remove features on a whim. I paid for a device with a feature set. It's like coming to my house and taking the remote for my tv.

    Where did you buy it? Some sell Oxygen flashed Chinese phones to earn money on the price cuts of Chinese devices... It's practically fraud if they haven't been clear about what the phone was. I would only buy something that is meant for my region (unless using it as a special test device).
    Blocking it on hardware level is practically the only safe way to do it. Everything else can be bypassed much easier.

    I haven't seen any time frame on the temporary removal of it.

    IN2020 here and update 10.5.10 still doesn't have the filter... Bought from retailer on Ebay located in Texas. Idk what ghe deal is but it seems as if the vast majority of OP 8 pro owners want the filter back, including me.

    Hi @David Y. is there any update regarding the return of photo chrome feature to asian devices. Cause i believed Ban was for hydrogen os bu mine was an oxygen os still i did not received this featur.

    They did it on hardware model number due to the high number of converted devices. Bad news for those that saved a few bucks on gray imports...

    I believe it was XDA that found that the camera blocks it at camera apk level and thus affecting all of specific models and not just specific OS versions. But Oneplus says it temporary though.
