Upgrading OnePlus 3 to OnePlus ???

    RandomDude66613, May 2, 2018 :
Ok so I bought OnePlus 3 year and a half ago, when I finally got it 3 days later OnePlus 3T was announced... I was really pissed at that time, now I'm thinking about upgrading my OnePlus 3 to 6 or 6T but I'm wondering if OnePlus will release OnePlus 6T couple of months later after the OnePlus 6 or will they release OnePlus 6T at all???

Whilst nothings confirmed yet, its probably quite likely that there'll be a T variant of the 6!

Well you could wait for the 6T, but then at that point might as well wait for the 7 and at that point might as well wait for the 7T

There's always going to be something new, you won't really get anywhere if you don't focus on the present ;)

It is better to upgrade to T version. T versions are always better.

Then again, if there isn't an affordable alternative for the, by all so much loved, notch, within that period of time and they don't run out of components or have some new "jelly like" stuff happening?

They must have yet to find another good reason to introduce a T variant.

Then decide if you like what the OP6 has to offer once it's released if not then wait for the 6T

Good point, then again, there wasn't much of a difference between the 3 and 3T aesthetic wise. Some harware upgrades proved enough for a T variant.
As @Android450 mentioned, you wait for the 6T - you end up waiting for the 7 and so on. I guess you gotta bite the bullet or you end up in a constant 6-month loop!

Yes, but why? What is it an OP6 can do what an OP3 can't or what makes it difficult to use?

That's the first what I ask myself. Also the OP3 is still supported. It's nice to have a new phone but it'll cost you $250 a year this way.

Exactly, no problem if you want to spend your money this way. For me a phone is something that has to do a certain job, as long as it does it's job without giving me troubles, why change?

After three months, the first rumors may start, that's all. To be sure, it'll take 5 months or so I guess.

Tbh, I think the 3T was introduced because a lack of components, like the processor. I guess they initially ordered a lower volume and found the OP3 to be a bigger runner than forecasted. That would explain the creation of the "famous" loved and hated T variant. For OP5, the jelly screen?

But besides the notch, what would justify a T variant?

Upgrade next year. 5G phones are inbound. And your 3 will last you pretty well till then, it has a pretty good dev community.

Live in the present don't dream about the future when it comes to tech.

As soon as you buy any tech it becomes outdated within a short period.

You could argue that I'll wait for the 6T then when that is released say nah I'll wait for the 7 and so on and on........

I'm on the 3 and will run it into the ground before I purchase a new phone. Simply because I'm more than happy with it and more importantly I can't justify a new £500+ phone every 12m

I would wait a few weeks after release and buy on its second or third re-stock and after coming back to the OP forum and see what real OP6 owners have got to say..... Good or bad

if the T variant continue to remain clubbed with their elder siblings then remember the T variant is actually support with software updates for 6 months less than the 2 year mark.

To be fair to the original poster I know what they mean. I have a 3 and bought it around the same time, I am happy enough with my phone, you get what you pay for, but I won't buy One Plus again for one simple reason - I'd rather they spent some time on R&D and released a phone that did everything it's meant to do from day one and then spent time fixing any issues that may arise with that model, rather than simply dumping it and moving on. (Sound recording was always awful on the 3 - never sorted, camera was never as good as promised, never sorted.). In future, I'd far rather pay more money for a phone that delivers, than one which promises a lot, but when doesn't quite get there. That said, I've loved the OP3 and if the battery wasn't starting to noticeably drain faster than it used to, I'd probably not be thinking of a new phone for a good while yet.
