USB C/3.5mm Splitter Adaptor Testing Thread

    Nickexp , Nov 6, 2018 :
So, apparently the Amazon Basics USB C cable works with dash charge, which makes me wonder which 3rd party aux/usb c splitters could work with dash charge (if any), so I'm creating this thread for anyone to post what worked, and what did and didn't support dash charge for them on the 6T. I'll update the thread with a list of these devices as people comment them and hopefully, we can get a decent list going so that even if Oneplus do not make an adapter themselves (here's hoping they do and this list becomes a moot point) we still can potentially get this functionality.

So far here is the list of potential options I've found, let me know of any more and if you guys have tried them and how they worked (if they allowed for normal charging and sound at the same time properly, if they allowed dash charge and sound or whatever combination you found them to function under including if they just didn't work at all):

    1) https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-2in...-AUX-Splitter-Adapter-USB-Cable-/311946767212

No information so far, may or may not work.

    2) https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Adapter-Charge-and-Headphone-2-in-1-Type-C-to-3-5mm-Head-Aux-Audio-USB-C-Cable/183397626189?_trkparms=aid=555018&algo=PL.SIM&ao=2&asc=20161027085944&meid=f1963472f9e74a338e5ced1d23d6c091&pid=100623&rk=1&rkt=6&sd=311946767212&itm=183397626189&_trksid=p2047675.c100623.m-1

From my understanding, this one has been tried on previous Oneplus devices and worked but no dash charge support.

No information so far, may or may not work.

    4) https://www.amazon.com.au/DISDIM-He..._rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=TNC0CNPVB9YS350JYZ8X

No information so far, may or may not work.

    5) https://www.amazon.com.au/Baoblaze-Earphone-Adapter-Samsung-Interface/dp/B07GS6YKSF/ref=sr_1_4?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1541474064&sr=1-4&keywords=usb c aux
No information so far, may or may not work.

    6) https://www.amazon.com.au/Flameer-Type-C-Headphone-Adapter-Charger/dp/B07JLC8VF2/ref=sr_1_12?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1541474064&sr=1-12&keywords=usb c aux

No information so far, may or may not work.

    7) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D7X7WSN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_28U5BbE4EE4RJ
    Does not work.

As I get more information I'll tidy up the formatting of this list to be a lot easier to get information from at a glance, but please anyone who has purchased an adapter let me know in the comments which one and how well it works so that we can make sure people aren't buying ones that don't work and so that we can hopefully discover one that does.

This thread is a great idea!
I was wondering too if anyone was even trying to find usb c 3.5mm/charge splitters that worked with Dash Charging.

Here is a product that is known to work with almost every android to exist. it has many clones (but is WAY expensive for a splitter and too bulky, almost like they have a mini computer inside of it : P ):

Here is a very good article from AndroidCentral. They explain in depth how the usb c charge+3.5mm works and why phones don't use it. It can be very useful to understand how this whole shenanigan came to be:

I can't see any off these splitter adaptors working with dash charge. Dash charge only works with oneplus proprietary cables.

The Amazon USB C cable actually works with dash charge, so it is possible one of these might have a design that unintentionally manages to support dash charge. Obviously it is unlikely but if there is a chance, compiling a list isn't that much work.

This "should" work with anything USB 3.1 with the Type-C connector, technically speaking. $40 https://store.google.com/product/moshi_usb_c_digital_audio_adapter

What I would really love is a Type-C splitter with a 90 degree male jack, or at least one as small as the 6T headphone adapter. That is, a Type-C male to Dual Type-C female, with one of the females capable of charging. Clearly, this is technically possible https://forum.xda-developers.com/pi...hi-adapter-charger-alternative-usb-c-t3743267

After reading this https://m.androidcentral.com/there-single-usb-c-headphone-adapter-works-all-phones it seems to me the 6t is outting analog audio. And therefore audio/charging combo is dependent on if one plus added the added connection to allow up to 500mA charging while outputing audio.

Seems any cheap passive adapter should work for audio.

Audio Adapter Accessory Mode section is the part that seems most relevant to the 6t.

FYI the charger included with my 6t will not "rapid charge" my Nexus 6p

Interesting, hopefully oneplus get their shit together and put out an adapter though. As for the Nexus part, Dash Charge never was compatible with them afaik so I don't see why that matters

Just an observation that Nexus 6p will only pull 500mA from it.

After a couple weeks with the 6T I am very impressed with the battery life and a little amazed at it's charging speed.

Anyone test any cheap ebay/Amazon adapters. Seems like any adapter should work for audio output. I'd be very interested in knowing if anything outputs audio while allowing charging albeit slowly.

I read this thread, decided to test with the original Pixel USB-C x 3.5mm adapter and it burned by phone!

Just kidding, it worked. But this one does not charge.

There is another thread on XDA (my go-to source for anything OP) and someone figured out if you plug in the USB C cable FIRST into the splitter (phone will show charging) and THEN plug in the Audio.....BINGO it works.

    XDA thread:

Link to cable (available at Fry's, Google Express or Newegg)

It will nevet work, because it is USB 2.0.
It is working only with USB 3.1 (or 3).
v2 capable only for one way direction.

I am yet to try any of these. And I do not suppose Dash charge will work with any third party splitter.
