I have tried to organize the OPO quality control problems into the below categories.
    1. yellow tint
    2. yellow band - light leak (I have)
    3. dents and chips/scratches (I got a one on the bezel)
    4. dust in the camera lens (got that too)
    5. missing hardware buttons
    6. touchscreen malfunction (in my case, delays which may be due to a software error)

HOWEVER, I have noticed other problems which lead me to believe the phone I received is refurbished build date 7.11 on box and 7.02 on phone.

First, after I received phone on Wednesday 7.23 at 8PM EST I found cosmetic imperfection and the yellow band so I sent an customer support request and laid the phone back into the box to avoid any damage I could cause accidently. Yesterday Thursday 7/24, I got home and wanted to check out the phone again and check it out when waiting to hear back form the support and maybe sell myself to keep the phone. Upon closer inspection, I noticed 2 dust specs in the camera lens; they do not affect the quality of photos so I tried to ignore it. I played with the phone a little and it kept freezing and I would have to Volume down + power to force shutdown and then restart. After 3 times of this in the course of 15 min. I restarted to a cyonegmen welcome screen to setup my phone. However, the screen is stuck at finishing setup-bar and I keep getting app is not responding error in the meantime (mostly gallery app). After a few tries I was able to get into recovery and did a factory reset. This solved the problem but led me to believe maybe my phone had a previous owner. I downloaded an app to recover the flash drive and noticed a strange photo and wallpaper I did not put on the phone. The photo was of a asus monitor with a screen saying xiaomi pad and a tablet next to it. I took a screenshot but it is on my OPO right now which I refuse to bring to work or use daily unless OPO provides an answer to this. I will upload when I get off work the screenshot.

Guys, please run a data recovery and see if your phone was preowned/refurbished. We paid for a new phone that should function flawlessly, not a used or defect returned.

Ok, I have seen this topic ignored. However, I have read many threads about it.

It seems that users are buying NEW phones (from the OPO website) but, are being shipped REFURBISHED/USED phones.

Using the crappy search, I found the following threads:

Can we please get an explanation. How many "New" Used devices are floating out there? When I get my phone, I plan to do a full inspection of it. However, even if only one of these hold true, it is unethical.

PS. I remember reading more threads on this topic, however, I can't find them now. If someone finds more threads like these, please post below.

Edit: Since I am trying to promote transparency, I am gonna add the Admins responses to this post. I figured most people won't read the whole thread.

The question now is, do you trust their response?

OnePlus is not owned by OPPO and carries no affiliation:
OnePlus runs on low profit margins:

To those who needs help, they make less than $10 profit on each phone, as stated by Mr. Pei

    Say what .

The OPO has built in stereo speakers:

    Debunking thread: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/another-truth-about-oneplus-speakers.52135/

    Swap covers:
    Doubt this needs a source.

    Touch Insensitivity issue:
Solution to the yellow problem (albeit, this depends on how much you trust the user to post an unedited correspondence with OP).

Wait, so at first you isolated the problem, says it exist on all phones and then say jk, this is a new problem that we cannot reproduce?

    Yellow screen issue:
Modify through a software fix? Well, let me give you the proper fix:

I believe my first one was refurbished/used as well. Dings and other people's desk photos upon recovery. Tried to RMA took them a month to approve it and then another 3 weeks to send me details of return. Sold the phone by then....

So what would be some tests when using the phone first time to check if it is used or refurbished? This info could help many new owners who are waiting for their phones to be delivered.

I am first going to check for physical damages (dings/scratches). Next check to see if there is an old screen protector under the factory peal -.-. Then boot and make sure you are not sent directly to the OS, but instead hit a setup page. Finally check the build date (in the settings app). Since there is no reserves, the build date should be close to the date you ordered, not September!
