Using Google Pay without unlocking the phone

Hey everyone, so in order to use Google Pay, you need to have NFC turned on. Easy. For small purchases, up to $30 or whatever it is locally for you, you do NOT need to unlock your phone, the screen just has to be "awake".

Here's my issue, yes I have searched, and there does seem to be people asking for this for quite some time (on lenovos and pixels too). Anybody who has your phone can simply enable or disable WiFi, data, torch, rotation etc, from the quick settings without unlocking your phone. This is also the case for NFC. So somebody can turn on NFC, chance their arm with a purchase using Google Pay. Is there a way that we can specify which quick settings can be enabled/disabled from the lockscreen? Interestingly enough, Location will not allow you to toggle it without unlocking, so the functionality is there. I am assuming at this stage that it is baked into the OS. Anyone have any insight? I will leave feedback/request for this soon enough.

As always, if a thread already exists please report for merge or closed.

Nope, not when it's under the initial limit. Once it is over the minimum $30 or so, you must unlock the device (which probably counts as a secure unlock)

it is a good security setting to have both the quick settings/ notification area locked in the lock screen as well as limit the power button to just the reboot option when in lock screen.

some people fail to understand the security aspect of this feature. but we can ignore them for their limited understanding.

the feature you are asking is available on custom ROMs and hopefully we can expect OnePlus too to implement it on OOS.

Ya totally agree. But as of now, this doesn't exist in OOS? I really do not want to download another app just for this.

there is no such inbuilt feature in OOS. there are apps that can employ a workaround, but are more a pain than convenience.

You can remove certain tiles from QS using edit button (pencil icon). But it removes from both lockscreen and unlocked phone.

Thanks for bringing the issue to my attention! Is the smaller transaction limit of $30 in US?

EDIT: I found the official limits.

This is the workaround I'm using, but it's extremely annoying going into settings to turn on NFC everytime.

Thanks for this! I can confirm the €30 limit for Ireland is correct and the $100 limit for Canada is correct. $100 is alot without unlocking the phone :/

You may remove it from QS tiles and try a widget or similar app that works from the notification list with the appropriate notification permission setting of hiding content on lock screen or even better a low priority notification type.

I've been annoyed by the "feature" since day one of Android Pay! It's so ridiculous that anybody could pay for something without the need for authentification. Some people might like that, acts like a contactless card but I and as it seems many others don't. All I want is an option to require a authentification method (Fingerprint, PIN etc) everytime but Google doesn't seem to like that ...
