    Ok.

Tried that. Set notifications to override DND.

    Didn't work.

Is it just me or is this whole thing strange?

Can you perform a factory reset one more time and set all the three settings as I mentioned? It is just a software glitch, factory reset should fix it.

Ok so tried wiping cache first. Didn't work.

Going to go more extreme and hard reset wiping everything.

    I'm not sure any more.

I've tried all this stuff and I think it's either a bug, or an obvious missing feature.

I am someone who read an article about setting up my phone to help me be more mindful, so the notifications on/ off are important.

You may want to make sure that all your volume settings are all the way up, especially the bell icon.

    Really? OK. I'll try that.

    So to be clear:
When set to ring, I've put volume all the way up.
For do not disturb, it's all the way up.
For silent (vibrate) it's not relevant.

I will let you know as soon as I've tested.

This really is a weird one. I read thru the posts... all of them, somewhere in between you tested a "different Message" app and it worked, is my understanding correct? If yes, the i would suggest you submit a case with OP support. i am not entirely convinced a "Factory Reset" would help. You can give it a go (eventually at some point in time with OP support) they will also ask you to do that as well.

Tried factory reset. It didn't work.

Downloaded Google's messages app - vibrate works as needed.

All started with latest Oxygen OS.
