Yes, after a hard reset, I am able to use the visual vm with the stock dailer. No longer seeing the can't activate message either, at least not yet.

Spoke too soon, can't activate message is back. This is really odd, i did a few more test and results are always the same. Not sure if it is tmobile not working correctly with 7 pro or it is issue with 7 pro.

If you see the can't activate message, touch Call voicemail, hang up, visual vm is working momentarily and then can't activate message is back again. I give up.

AT&T calls VVM an "Advanced Feature", so branded-phones and iOS only, for the most part (there have been a few exceptions, such as WinPhone10 phones, and a others).
I'm also with AT&T, I gave up some years ago, and use GV for my VM, it really works more or less the same, just not as nicely integrated into the dialer...

let's stay on topic, this issue of visual voicemail is a major issue, with no fix in sight.

I tried calling my carrier and they couldn't figure it out. I live in US and use Ting which is a MVNO of Tmobile. Apparently in the voicemail setting there is a number(phone number) Greyed out that is incorrect on my device. The person on the phone said that it was odd I was even getting regular voicemail since the number was wrong. This might have something to do with it. The lack of VVM is not a big deal for me but it is an annoyance I wish wasn't there.

Please if anyone else can contact their carrier and post here if the same thing is going on.

hey guys try to see if you can download the my visual voicemail app and before you open it make sure to turn off your WiFi and then accept the permission then once finished installing you can turn off the VVM app and uninstall it then turn on the stock app and restart. this worked for me.

@Yking2089 Your pic doesn't show "working VVM" though, right?

If it's working (correctly), you'll see a translated, textual representation of the VM, AND a playback mechanism, if you want to listen to the audio as well.
Typically, with VVM messages, there's no need to listen to the audio, as long as the translation is working reasonably well.

As much as I dislike the GV "hack", of forwarding to an unused GV number, it does work, and the translation (done by Google speech->text), is usually pretty good, at least for English, not sure about other languages...

I don't think OP wants to "fix" this for most carriers, because they'd have to pay, to get "certified", or whatever the carrier's term is. This is also (usually) why WiFi-Calling doesn't work.

Maybe someday, BOTH carriers AND non-branded device OEMs (like OP) will fully support RCS, and this will all "align", as it should, for customers. Or pigs may fly, or whatever ;-]

Sure, that's a "partial" step, IMHO though, I can get that with my carrier (AT&T) app.
I've had the translated text for >10 years though, or I did, on WinPhone. When I moved to Android (and non-carrier devices, same as my Win Phones), several years ago, I had to get a GV account, to have the same.

The AT&T VVM app "claims" to do this (translated text), but IME, it has *maybe* a 10% success rate, whereas GV is very close to 100%, along the lines of 95% translated text (and it's still free, for now...).
