Volume up + power button combo gives a "calls and notifications will vibrate" message. The phone isn't put into vibrate mode. But all calls and notifications make no sound. Volume toggle shows sound. To fix it have to toggle alert slider to vibrate and back to ring.
Have seen this issue on the forums but since there was no resolution anywhere, I'm posting.
edit: On Android 11 update the status bar doesn't show vibrate mode. But in quick settings you can see "phone on vibrate". and volume button shows call on vibrate.

If you google it, it's listed as an older Android feature. As it's listed under "if you have an older Android version". And the thing is I can't turn it off. Android 11 has the volume up and power button mapped to the power off screen if you have assistant on the power button. So it can't mean to have this mapped to it. On top of that it only happens on some phones, and not others. There's no way to switch it off. Nor is it mentioned anywhere.

I'm so glad this is finally acknowledged. I posted the same thing months ago and never got a response. It's so easy to accidentally press both buttons since they're level with reach other.

I have the same issue on Nord. I had noticed that ocasionally the sound wasn't working. And also because of button placement I often take screenshots unintentionally. Only now I noticed the message "calls and notifications will vibrate". I am somewhat happy, that the sound does't turn off by itself, as I had presumed, but this "feature" should be removed or atleast switchable.

If you have ADB installed on your computer and USB debugging enabled, you should be able to disable this with the command
adb shell settings put secure volume_hush_gesture 0
. Hopefully OnePlus pushes an update to add a user-facing setting for this soon.

    Are you KIDDING ME?

This has been driving me absolutely insane for months and every internet forum says it just cant be done. And its just an adb settings change? And OF COURSE it just works right away without any fuss.

Who are you, sir? Who are you?

    (tl;dr: thanks.)
