Not sure if it is factually correct.

Happy to elaborate!

To build an electronic device you need a basic component - Semiconductors.
Semiconductors are manufactured in silicon fabs.
India has only one FAB (owned by isro) and that too has a 200nm technology. And that is obsolete today. For ref: we are using 7nm processors.

To build a fab that can do that it requires billions of dollars of investment. Not that no one has tried it before. To be future ready, Taiwan semiconductor manufacturing company is building a 3nm faculty. The cost of building the facility alone is $23Billion. That does not include the cost of skilled and unskilled labour and other overheads.

In INR that's 17,39,50,15,00,000 rupees!

Now if you're willing to understand why does India lag behind. Read this: https://analyticsindiamag.com/india-semiconductor-chip-manufacturing/

To put it simply, this is a very complex undertaking. People have tried it before and have failed. I am confident that efforts will be made and eventually there will be success. But if you're looking for a daily driver smartphone that's 100% made in India. I would suggest you buy a feature phone instead.

Thanks to @anuj sharma for the info.

Base requirement of any PCB is a semi conductor. Which they source from China, Vietnam and Taiwan.
They assemble the PCB here. Not the semi conductor.

That changes nothing. Fabs aren't built in a day.
Danke :)
Sorry didn't watch the whole thing, I mean he himself changed his shirt halfway. Anyways, all I could grasp was "80%"

He is the most pretentious and obnoxious youtuber I have seen!
He doesn't even care to validate his claims! First it was 90%, then it became 80%. I didn't see the whole video because it gave me a headache, but I wouldn't be surprised if he would have said 20% at the end of the video.

I suggest you to stop watching baseless youtubers claims and instead, read up reputable articles and websites. White papers and such help too.
