Yes. The charger and the phone work in partnership to manage the power going to the battery. The charger can only provide up to the maximum it is capable (obviously) but the phone will only accept the maximum it wants at any given time. It takes less and less current the more full the battery.
A dash charger in a mclaren phone would charge at dash speeds.

Both. There is some smart stuff going on in the plug, and the plug is setup to deliver up to 30W but it's the phone which decided how much power to take in at any given point.
A Warp30 charger is capable of going up to 30W. An OP6T with Dash will only accept a maximum load of 20W.
I've not seen it confirmed personally, but I believe if you charged a OP6T with a Warp30 charger it would not have any negative effect on the phone or the charger. But it would be at 20W speeds.

If you're charging your McLaren phone from a McLaren car then I don't think you give a monkeys what speed it's charging at because you're looking at the car too much to notice the passing of time. Could be 20 minutes. Could be 2 hours. Who knows...

The benefits of warp charge are apparently negated once it charges beyond 60 percent, so if you are a person who charges to 90 percent warp charge isn't that much different than dash charge.

Love the new tech and the new name!! Guess they killed 2 birds with one stone : introduce a better charging technology and avoid the legal issues that came with using the "Dash" charge name!!

Sure that OP will never again use the old term again!

Edit : Huawei Mate 20 pro uses 40W charger. So there's way to go for OP.

Double Edit: The technology behind Warp charge (S-VOOC) supports 50W, it's artificially limited to 30W by OP for the McLaren phone. There are already phones on the market with full 50W S-VOOC. So not only is there some way to go, there's an extra 20W to go that's available right now. Hopefully on the OP7 but I suspect Warp50 will be on the OP7T - very annoyingly.

It requires support both in the charger and in the phone. So plugging an older phone (anything pre McLaren phone) will just charge at standard Dash (20W) speeds.

Sorry OP/OPPO, DASH/VOOC was fine but nowadays I want to see USB-PD (which can deliver up to 100W (20V @ 5A)) for future phones and not a proprietary solution. It was a good decision to use the USB Type C connector in the past, now it's time to make another good decision. Nobody want a fast charge solution which is only working with a specific wall charger and which is not available at every place. Remember: "Never Settle!"

my experience: 45-55% in 20 mins. I never depleted ylto anything lower than 12% battery and highest I charged the battery to was 77%.

I haven't had to charge more than 25 mins for a whole day of use. But I am not a power user. no gaming or anything.

I know this is a very desired feature. The only thing that would stop them from using this tech in 6T is probably the cost. This is my wild guess.
