    Axevictim , Feb 23, 2016 :
Is the warranty transferable if you sell the phone ?
Ive sold my Oneplus but the buyer is having issues.
He contacted Oneplus but they are asking for my password for my account before they will do anything.Problem is i bought it off someone else so in turn will have to contact them.

As far as I'm aware the warranty is based around the device itself. As long as the customer Provides an IMEI number that is registered then they will provide a warranty service

Like Apple only long distance
Will tell him but think the issue is the video chat problem with the latest 2.2 update,
so no need to send back.

@Axevictim - the thread I quoted above is what you need to read, but this one sentence clarifies the issue of 3rd party warranty:

That is irrelevant. As @Jerry states in the section I quoted,

Also as warranties are non-transferable, we do not offer warranty services to products bought through a 3rd party

So even if the original purchase was made from the OnePlus site, the device has changed hands twice now. So warranty is not applicable.

Jacob B. left OnePlus some time ago. Do you have the link to the part of his post that you quoted? As I cannot click it to take me to the thread he posted in.
We had a recent discussion on warranty here when the OP2 was released @MrFingerIII raised the question on 3rd party warranty and Adam Krisko also replied in that thread.
    Warranty is not transferable AFAIK.

Ah right. I was just involved in another thread and a Mod posted that quote so I took that as the answer.
It makes sense that it wouldn't be transferrable but we need a definite answer

Jacob was right. OnePlus Warranty comes with the phone.

For example, your OnePlus was bought on oneplus.net/us, and the order was placed within past 12 months, the warranty is still valid.

Providing information like order #, account, and etc., is just to prove your phone is purchased from official channel.

And 'the limited warranty only covers product defects caused by workmanship or build materials.' Details can be found here: https://oneplus.net/privacy-and-legal.

Thanks for this @nicoleqiao . Might be an idea to make an official announcement because there are a few threads that are all asking the same question

The phone was bought direct from Oneplus/UK ,so the new buyer can just create a Oneplus account start a ticket, give them the order number and IMEI and that should be him covered ?

Rather than open a ticket the normal way they should send an email directly to http://oneplus.net/support with all the information in and they will open a ticket for them

Thats what I believed initially @nicoleqiao - but what you said kind of contradicts @Jerry's thread:

    https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/5-reasons-to-not-buy-oneplus-devices-from-scalpers.35689/
    in particular this part:

Also as warranties are non-transferable, we do not offer warranty services to products bought through a 3rd party

Last year we had a discussion on this and @Adam Krisko also replied to the thread where the question asked was: "if a user bought from a 3rd party and had the original invoice and packaging (3rd party had bought direct from OnePlus) would warranty still be in place?"
I cannot find the thread but I am pretty sure the answer was no.

If that is the case, then Jerry's thread should be updated and amended accordingly.
This has been a grey area for a while so I just want clarification
