I went from OP6 to OP9 and it hasn't been terrible. I did expect more, especially in the camera department. But price was right so I'll keep my OP9 and the wife will use the OP6.

I dont see buying the OP9 Pro as a waste of money... I did not expect the phone to perform like it did when it came. And when the updates came it was even better, (I switched from the 6T to the 9Pro). I do use the phone a lot for software development
Maybe this is where my stance on this comes from.

The performance and optimization of the smartphone is good. But, the battery and the very warm processor and especially the camera - very disappointing.
The Pixel 5 shoots much better than the OP 9 Pro, and so far HasselBlad is more likely to match HasselBad ...

I do not take lot of pictures and I do not find the battery and cpu overheating issues to be weird as it's a subject of heated discussion (badum tsj)

When the OnePlus 9 announcement was revealed, everyone immediately turned their attention to the camera, as there was a lot of news that HasselBlad would be a cool camera phone. But in fact, it loses to many smartphones of 2018-2019, this should not be the case.
Many people bought a smartphone for the sake of a camera, if you need top-end hardware, then you can take any xiaomi on the snapdragon 870 and it will last for a year for sure, while being 2 times cheaper.

I feel like I wasted my money purchasing this phone as well the battery life is terrible and I've had numerous overheating issues just sitting in my car not in direct sunlight not happy about this phone one bit if I could return it I would for sure

In fact, the camera often loses to competitors. especially when it comes to people's faces. They are white, smeared, looks very unnatural.
And the front camera is added just for show.
