Daisy K., Feb 8, 2019 : Hey friends, So maybe the last Waste Your Weekend was a bust. Game, thoroughly un-addicting. Weekend, thoroughly un-wasted. I’ve realized while playing this week’s game that my choices aren’t always perfect. Nirvana is a simple game with a series of complicated choices that ultimately determine your random avatar’s life and death. My strategy in these types of games would be to earn the most money, be the most popular, or find lasting happiness (whatever that means to you). However, here, being unhappy can result in death and being very happy…also…results in…death. Let’s try to achieve mediocrity together and defeat the grim reaper once and for all! Not to get existential here but what came first, the Creator or the person who coded the creator...? Many of the choices have unpredictable circumstances – Did you know choosing to not steal someone’s rollerblades negatively affects your heath? As I played this game, I’m glad that my life isn’t boiled down to these kinds of choices or, like my character, I too would have died of unpopularity by age 14. When I got to my final character, something about her made me confident we were going all the way to the top. We survived everything together – puberty, marriage, assassins, divorce (no hard feelings, he was also an assassin). Too bad he literally married a woman called Olivia the Ninja. Finally, I successfully reached the end of this harrowing journey only to find that the reward…was also death. I’ll keep playing though. The cards are infinite and the ways you end up dying are hilarious. The journey to Nirvana continues. Share your favorite cards and let me know if you ever reach the end!
